About the Role:
In this position, you will:
- Inspect, diagnose, and determine unit condition, identifying deficiencies and repair needs.
- Perform engine overhauls and other repairs on marine diesel engines in field and shop environments.
- Verify performance by conducting sea trials and making necessary adjustments.
- Manage costs by utilizing warranties, evaluating service and parts options.
- Document service records accurately for engines and vessels.
- Communicate professionally with customers while on-site.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment in both shop and field settings.
- Provide guidance, assistance, and training to apprentice marine technicians.
- Complete work logs in a timely manner with all relevant information.
- Perform MTU dyno acceptance testing per manufacturer guidelines.
What You Bring:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (technical schooling is a plus).
- Experience: 5+ years of experience (marine large bore diesel engine experience is a plus).
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong laptop/PC skills
- Excellent problem-solving & analytical skills
- Ability to read service manuals & operating instructions
- Fluent in using electrical multi-meters
- Thorough understanding of diesel engine electronic controls
- Ability to diagnose mechanical issues visually
- Preferred Experience:
- Strong MTU engine experience
- Experience with Diasys software
- TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) is a plus
- Other Requirements:
- Must have own set of mechanic's tools
- Ability to maintain a clean and organized work vehicle
- Complete company-provided manufacturer training (online and in-person)
- Up to 75% travel required (domestic & international)
