Police Officer Recruit Program Announcement

Carilion Clinic is pleased to announce the launch of our comprehensive Police Officer Recruit Program, designed to equip candidates with the essential knowledge, skills, and behaviors necessary for a successful law enforcement career in healthcare. This paid program spans 22 weeks, culminating in becoming a Virginia Law Enforcement Officer. We encourage interested applicants to apply promptly, as interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis. This program offers a solid foundation for a rewarding career in law enforcement, emphasizing community service and professional excellence.

Program Details:

*Start Date:[To Be Announced]

*Duration:22 Weeks

*Compensation:Participants will be employed and compensated throughout the program

Eligibility Criteria:

*Successful completion of all required background checks

*Residency in Virginia

*Reliable personal transportation

Program Structure:

*Educational Training:Engage in structured learning sessions covering critical law enforcement topics.

*Practical Experience:Participate in on-the-job training (Field Training) to develop and refine policing skills.

*Professional Development:Commit to continuous learning, actively seek feedback, and pursue growth opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

*Attend the Basic Law Enforcement School through Cardinal Criminal Justice Academy.

*Master assigned educational materials to ensure readiness for certification.

*Perform duties as trained, including:

*Assisting community members and managing inquiries.

*Updating and maintaining accurate reports.

*Answering calls for service.

*Utilizing various computer systems and applications effectively.

*Adhere to all safety protocols and policy standards.

Must successfully complete a physically and mentally demanding police academy lasting 5.5 months in order to be state certified as a Law Enforcement Officer in Virginia.
Any Day - Any Shift; Weekends and Holidays Included

What We Require:

Education: High School or equivalent required.

Experience: No experience required, but previous law enforcement or security experience is preferred.

Licensure/Certification:
(1) Has met Virginia minimum training standards for law enforcement officers and is currently certified as a law enforcement officer by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services, or; is eligible to attend and successfully complete such training within one year of being hired.
(2) Valid Virginia driver's license required.

Other: Must possess a driving record within the scope of Carilion's Driver Regulations. Due to Virginia's state law, the applicant must be at least 21 years of age. Computer keyboarding skills. Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Meets Virginia's minimum requirements for law enforcement officers.
