Inventory Control Clerk Lead

Job Purpose

Reporting to the materials manager, the inventory control lead will guide and assist a team of inventory control clerks to ensure inventory accuracy, flexibility, and integrity. This person will ensure manufacturing has materials required to complete orders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serve as the first line of leadership for a team of 2 - 5 inventory control clerks
  • Locate products in appropriate shelves, overstock, or storage.
  • Manage daily and annual cycle counts and resolve discrepancies.
  • Manage and assist receiving specialist with offloading of incoming trucks and ensure parts are placed in the correct bin locations
  • Assist in maintaining the security and safety of the Company's warehouse.
  • Perform warehouse maintenance activities; keeping warehouse clean and organized, identifying obsolete materials, relabeling, repackaging, etc.
  • Use ERP system to investigate inventory movements and look up parts as needed.
  • Take initiative to identify and research incorrect parts and inventory problems.
  • Restock parts as needed.
  • Complete and submit all paperwork (cycle counts, pick sheets, etc.) in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Operate forklift, pallet jacks, and other tools and equipment to move materials.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts with the team and promote healthy, respectful communications.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 1-2 years related materials or inventory experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding of Lean manufacturing, and ISO quality procedures.
  • Ability to obtain forklift certification within 30 days of hire required.
  • Ability to create and promote teamwork
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high stress environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Training experience preferred
  • Basic knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and enterprise resource planning system (such as SAP) preferred
  • Working knowledge of cycle counting, KanBan, FIFO, and general inventory management preferred.
General Job Requirements
  • Must be able and willing to operate a forklift.
  • Must be able to frequently bend; twist; reach; stoop; kneel or crouch.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds/23 kilos on a daily continuous basis. Anything heavier will be done with the assistance of a mechanical device or with the assistance of another employee.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Employees are responsible for wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment in the proper manner at all times.
  • Must be able and willing to wear a respirator.
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime.
  • Must be able and willing to work varying schedules which may include nights, weekends, and public holidays.
  • This position requires working in a plant/warehouse environment. Therefore, expect varying working conditions.
  • This position is exposed to harmful materials such as lead/fiberglass products. Periodic blood tests are required to measure the level of lead. Precautions are taken by the company/employee to reduce the risk of exposure and help ensure everyones safety.
