Ferrous Processing and Trading (FPT) is one of North America's premier processors, buyers, sellers, and recyclers of scrap metals of all kinds and is a key supplier to the metals industry of North America. FPT is a wholly-owned business of Cleveland-Cliffs and has an immediate opportunity for an IT Support Engineer at our Corporate Headquarters in Detroit, Michigan. The IT Support Engineer will be responsible for providing technology support to Ferrous Processing & Trading employees at all levels of technical prowess.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Respond to Level 1 and Level 2 IT service requests or incident tickets regarding, but not limited to: network issues, WIFI issues, end user pcs, servers, email, security, backups, and user applications.
  • Assist end users via phone calls in a support queue or service ticket assignment, providing detailed notes around issues, troubleshooting, and resolution
  • Contribute and update content in a documentation repository that serves as a knowledge base for the department.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis to expedite incident resolution.
  • Develop and maintain software and operating system deployment images in a remote management and monitoring solution.
  • Plan for, respond to, and documents service outages and other issues in environment including network, server, and applications.
  • Install, support, upgrade, and maintain servers (physical, virtual, and Azure) and desktops running the Windows operating system including physical hardware troubleshooting and part replacements.
  • Responsible for maintaining server backup technology, providing restoration for the end user tickets, and reporting regularly on backup status.
  • Responsible for managing and maintaining up to date inventory tracking including shipping and receiving of company assets.
  • Responsible for aiding in the procurement activities for the department including the maintenance of a catalog of approved equipment.
  • Administer the corporate server environment including user accounts for server and remote access, network security, and distribution of network privileges.
  • Perform daily system monitoring by verifying the integrity and availability of servers' physical/virtual hardware, resources, systems, and key processes.
  • Mentor and train Level 1 support staff as needed.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or University program certificate or five years related experience training; or combination of education and experience.
  • Team player with the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Positive, high energy, and self-motivated.
  • Ability to multitask and respond and adapt in changing conditions.
  • The ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to write and correct operational procedures.
  • High levels of proficiency in Windows operating systems (desktop and server), Cisco Meraki, network routing and VLANs, DHCP, DNS, VPN, and MFA.
