What your job will be like:
The Data Center Technology Integration Manager will oversee and facilitate integrated efforts across local and distributed data centers, networking infrastructure and computing infrastructure to ensure seamless and efficient operations. This role is focused on strategic planning, ensuring that infrastructure and systems are designed to support long-term research objectives and facilitating the smooth transition of projects from design and implementation to operations. The position is key in ensuring that lab computing initiatives, including the Jefferson Lab Data Center (JLDC) and High-Performance Data Facility (HPDF) have the infrastructure to meet mission goals while optimizing operational efficiency and scalability.

In this role you will:


  • Lead the integration of data centers, networking, and systems infrastructure to meet operational and research requirements for HPDF, JLDC, and related projects.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teamsto ensure smooth and efficient system deployment, updates, and problem resolution.
  • Develop comprehensive roadmaps for infrastructure development, ensuring alignment with both research priorities and broader organizational objectives.
  • Represent technical and data center project requirements to prioritize planning and ensure intra-project deliverables.
  • Identify and plan for the integration of new technologies and infrastructure solutions that will enhance research capabilities and operational efficiency.
  • Work closely with management, research teams, and stakeholders to understand their evolving infrastructure needs and translate these into long-term strategic plans.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all stakeholders regarding data center infrastructure planning, integration, and operational performance.
  • Oversee the smooth transition of new systems, networks, and infrastructure projects from the design and deployment phase to daily operations.
  • Develop processes and frameworks for managing the lifecycle of infrastructure projects, ensuring that systems are transitioned into operations with minimal disruption and that performance meets stakeholder expectations.
  • Ensure that operational readiness for new infrastructure includes documentation, training for end-users and operational teams, and clear escalation procedures for incident management.

Qualification We Require:

Education:


  • Master's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Physics or closely related field, required.
  • Relevant experience may not be substituted for education.

Experience:


  • 12 or more years ideally in a High Throughput Computing (HTC) or high-performance computing (HPC) environment. required.
  • Relevant education above the minimum can be substituted for experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Strong experience in developing and executing long-term strategic plans for infrastructure development and integration.
  • Deep understanding of data center operations, campus networking, WAN architecture, and systems integration.
  • Proven ability to manage the transition of complex infrastructure projects from design/implementation to operational status.
  • Strong project management skills with experience in planning and coordinating multi-team efforts.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, with a focus on improving operational efficiency and ensuring scalability.
