The National Systems Group serves as the technical advisor to the Intelligence Community and its Mission Partners involved in the collection and distribution of national and tactical intelligence, including electronics programs, advanced technologies, ground and communications, imagery programs, and systems engineering and launch.

We are seeking a Senior Lead Ground C3 Engineer (Senior Project Leader - Software Architecture Engineering & Cloud Computing Architecture) to lead multiple IT-related teams in support of command, control, and communications (C3) systems in the NRO SIGINT Directorate. The purpose of the position is to establish and lead multiple simultaneous IT-related projects of Aerospace subject matter experts recommending alternative acquisition, architecture, design, and implementation solutions for the customer.

Work Model

This position requires 100% on-site work at a customer facility in Chantilly, VA.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Coordinating with and leading broad range of multi-discipline Aerospace engineering teams (with technical skills including cloud technologies, AI/ML, zero-trust/cyber-security, networking, systems engineering, modeling, etc.)
  • Interfacing daily with the customer, SETA, and developer teams;
  • Leading the Aerospace team in the execution of the assessments, analysis, and research responsibilities, to include the coordination of subject matter experts and the integration of inputs to provide corporate and customer leadership with technical adviceon modern IT systems;
  • Presenting recommended project plans and execution status with management and customers;
  • Providing project leadership throughout the life cycle of multiple simultaneous projects;
  • Assisting in the development of program acquisitions and/or task orders and contract evaluations.

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements for Senior Project Leader - Software Architecture Engineering & Cloud Computing Architecture:

  • Bachelor's degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) or related technical field;
  • Twelve years of professional IT-related, systems engineering, and/or project management experience with increasing responsibilities;
  • Experience with modern IT systems (i.e. acquisition, architecture, design, development, integration, sustainment, operations, etc.);
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with customers;
  • Ability to lead in a geographically-dispersed team environment;
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, time management, and task management skills;
  • Ability to travel approximately 10-20%
  • This position requires a current and active TS/SCI security clearance and polygraph, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • Experience leading IT development teams;
  • Experience in ground system architecture in support of satellite command & control systems;
  • Experience in network architecture & design, ground communications techniques, optical communication systems, radio frequency (RF) communications, or enterprise systems engineering;
  • Experience with service-oriented architectures;
  • Familiarity with Government acquisition policies and regulations including the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Other Transactional Authority (OTA) acquisitions;
  • Ability to communicate modern technology and engineering processes to non-technical teams;
  • Hands-on experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE);
  • Experience in one or more Agile Development methodologies;
  • Experience in communicating Agile Development in a government acquisition environment;
  • Understanding of DevSecOps and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD);
  • Experience with advanced IT capabilities including private, public and hybrid cloud techniques.
