General Summary:

Vertex University also supports programs for early career scientists and physician-scientists as they explore a career in biotech and facilitates global experts to speak about the latest in science, medicine, and technology.

Vertex University is seeking a superbly organized individual to support two career exploratory and development programs - Vertex Fellows and Vertex Physician-Investigator Programs, and two additional speaker series. The successful candidate will show strong initiative, work ethic and ability to deliver results. To be successful, they will also have excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills, and be able to manage multiple project schedules, provide project management for multiple programs and interact regularly with the head of Vertex University. An impeccable attention to detail is essential for this position.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support project planning and implementation for key programs and events with detailed timelines, action items and follow up to ensure key decisions are made and communicated in a timely manner.

  • Maintain alignment with head of Vertex University and members of the University team to deliver programs.

  • Effectively manage own efforts on multiple projects and troubleshoot challenges as needed.

  • Support the general organization/ preparation of program related meetings with stakeholder engagement, full agendas and logistics support.

  • Support regular and consistent communication with key stakeholders such as senior leadership, external speakers, and candidates.

  • Coordinate and support cross functional workstreams such as communication planning, speaker contractual support, and recruitment workstreams.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proven track record of working on multiple projects simultaneously and the ability to manage time-sensitive responsibilities while delivering high-quality work
  • Must have strong attention to detail, organizational and presentation skills, and thrive under tight timelines. Excellent written and verbal communication is also a must
  • A growth mindset and track record of being a life-long learner is key

Education and Experience:

This position requires a candidate's knowledge of project management in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries or knowledge of managing innovative educational programs. The desirable candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education and experience
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a professional and fast-paced environment. Biotech experience is preferred.
  • A minimum of 1 year of project management experience is essential. PMP certification or relevant coursework in project management is preferred

Flex Eligibility Status:

In this Hybrid-Eligible role, you can choose to be designated as:
1. Hybrid: work remotely up to two days per week; or select
2. On-Site: work five days per week on-site with ad hoc flexibility.
