Job Summary

Under the general direction of the California department of Public Health, Center for Infectious Disease (CID) Deputy Director, the Infectious Disease Project Manager / Quality Assurance Lead is responsible for the creation, organization, and execution of complex, specific assigned projects related to infectious disease readiness and response. The incumbent will provide project management oversight leading and supporting the establishment of new organizational structures in CID. The incumbent uses demonstrated expertise in public health, project planning and management, and epidemiology and manages multiple infectious disease related assignments. Provides for internal strategic planning efforts and implementing continuous quality improvement programs.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $96,700 - $145,100 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The Alliance Health Project (AHP) is a community-based LGBTQ+ and HIV-focused clinic located at 1930 Market Street in San Francisco. We provide psychotherapy, substance-use counseling, case management, support groups, psychiatry, sexual health services, clinical traineeship, and provider education and training. Our multi-disciplinary staff are a client-centered, collaborative, Harm Reduction-oriented team. We have continued to grow as a community-based clinic by anticipating and addressing the changing needs of our LGBTQ+ and HIV community members for more than 40 years. Our process of continuous improvement of service to our community includes a strong focus on cultural humility and anti-racist service provision.

Required Qualifications


  • BA/BS with a major in a related field and minimum three years of experience in administrative analysis or operations research; or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Thorough knowledge of QI models, measurement tools, and techniques, including collection, aggregation, abstraction, validation, analysis, and reporting of data.
  • Detail oriented, with proven ability to effectively manage time, see projects through to completion, organize competing priorities, and effectively address complex, urgent issues as they arise.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills to manage multiple levels of information and responsibilities, to quickly assess complex problems, and to develop and implement timely and effective solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating effectively with a broad range of clinical and technical staff and representatives of external regulatory agencies and for mentoring lower-levelstaff.
  • Strong skills required to effectively convey complex clinical and technical information both verbally and in writing and to produce high quality reports and documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of various administrative and business software packages, and of the specialized applications for quality data management. Experience and computer literacy with Windows, DOS, SAS, Excel, Word and Access.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Masters degree in Public Health or related field strongly preferred
