Position Summary:
The Manager, IT Applications is responsible for delivering technology solutions that meet business needs by developing applications in both mature and cutting-edge technology environments. Oversees the development, maintenance, and support of applications within the designated area of responsibility. Manages and mentors a team of technical resources, which includes hiring, performance management, and separation processes. Ensures the performance and uptime of application programs and processes, as well as application integrations, upgrades, and security measures. Accountable for measuring, monitoring, and enhancing the delivery and quality metrics of the team. Provides support and expertise for acquisition integration and collaborates with other IT infrastructure and application teams.
Utilizes both mature and advanced technology tools, programming methodologies, and languages. Streamlines and adheres to coding standards, procedures, and techniques while contributing to technical code documentation. Manages, designs, and implements large-scale technology solutions for applications, interfaces, and data conversions. Develops logical and physical models and design documents. Participates in and recommends approaches to development standards across multiple application platforms. Manages Software Change Requests, prioritizing their development and release. Stay current about new technologies and programming languages."
What You'll Do As A Manager, IT Applications:
Team Management - 40% * Manage varying levels of IT personnel possessing software development, computing architecture, and help to define and execute long term strategy.
* Manage building and developing a best in class organization, managing seamless cross divisional relationships and driving the implementation of business applications.
* Develop and support employee training and education that align with IT strategy.
* Recruitment, selection, performance management, retention, and development of IT professionals to meet the business needs now and in the future. Technology Management - 30% * Works with IT and Business Process Owners (BPO) to understand IT and Business Strategy and their implication to the platform / technology / application under responsibility.
* Streamlines and adhere to coding standards, procedures and techniques and contribute to the technical code documentation. Reviews and sign-offs on code.
* Prioritizes, manages and participates in projects, development and implementation of enhancements and/or changes.
* Partners with internal and external services vendors to ensure superior service delivery.
* Partners with the IT and BPO to define Service Level Agreement's (SLAs) and negotiate appropriate support commitments for existing products.
* Oversees unit and system testing for a platform / technology / application.
* Makes recommendations for IT technology strategy and budget planning as relates to assigned applications.
* Assures application systems and systems architecture remain in compliance with corporate and departmental standards and regulations
* Manages, designs and implements large size technology solutions for applications, interfaces and data conversions.
* Develops the logical and physical model and design documents. Participates and recommends approaches to development standards for multiple application platforms
* Responsible for high quality technology solutions that address business needs by developing applications within the mature technology and leading edge technology environments.
* Manages the Software Change Requests and manage its priority, development and release.
* Develop and maintain Software Change Request release schedule.
* Remain aware of new technologies / programming languages.
* Manage the development, maintenance and support of the respective applications.
* Adhere to LEAN methodology and best practices for application support, maintenance and enhancements. Business Partnership and IT thought leadership - 30% * Develop and maintain a strong business relationship with all levels of various Sales and Service personnel and all levels of IT support team
* Works closely with the business units and functional area managers to address technology questions, issues and needs.
* Acts as organizational advocate, thought-leader and consultant on business application issues and initiatives.
* Advise on feasibility of potential future projects. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
* Ensure alignment of projects with Business and IT Strategy
* Participate and contribute to LEAN activities, for example SQDC boards, Kaizen events.
The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed:
Required: * Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field with 12 plus years of progressive application technology experience including 5 years of experience managing teams in systems analysis and/or programming functions.
* Extensive experience with CRM platforms such as Salesforce or Microsoft Dynamics, including customization, configuration, and integrations.
* Proficiency in Microsoft .NET technologies, including C#, ASP.NET, ReactJS, and related frameworks
* Experience leading multiple application technology implementations and ability to manage and execute projects and budget.
* Experience in leading and managing IT teams, including project management and strategic planning.
* Skills in evaluating IT needs, developing IT roadmaps, and overseeing the implementation of technology solutions.
* Experience in implementing version and revision control practices and procedures; and designing and programming techniques.
* Experience leading multiple application technology implementations and ability to manage and execute projects and budget. Skills: * Experience leading multiple application technology implementations and ability to manage and execute projects and budget.
* Certification in development tools, SDLC, and/or project management preferred.
* Strong understanding of all phases of the application development lifecycle and project management disciplines.
* Ability to manage a team of people and provide regular coaching sessions, reviews and develop plans to improve skill sets.
