We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Accountant for our San Diego office.The Senior Project Accountant (Sr. PA) is responsible for the job cost accounting functions of the San Diego office.


POSITION PURPOSE
The Senior Project Accountant (Sr. PA) is responsible for the job cost accounting functions of the San Diego office. The Senior PA's primary responsibility is to ensure that the WIP reports accurately reflect the profitability of the contract. This means that the underlying accounting processes must be well managed and understood. An effective Senior PA needs to be well versed in Construction Accounting concepts, thoroughly understand Viewpoint Construction Management software program and ensure that company policies and procedures are followed. The Senior PA reports directly to the District Manager and to the Corporate Controller.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Typical accounting functions that the Senior PA would supervise and/or perform would include, but not limited to the following areas:
  • Project Accounting
    • Contract and job cost maintenance
    • Change order maintenance
    • Manage the PO/Receiving process
    • Subcontract processing
    • Contract billing
    • Quantity updates
    • Maintain accurate job cost reports, percent complete reports
    • Proper document retention and compliance for each job file
    • Attend pre-construction meetings
  • Month-end close
    • Ensure accounting deadlines and cut-off procedures are followed
    • Ensure cost reports are accurately reporting quantities, costs and projections
    • Ensure WIP reports, cost reports and percent complete reports are reconciled
    • Reconcile accruals
    • Work with Project Team to explain over / under billings and profit fade
  • Miscellaneous
    • Project Accountant and support staff training
    • Implement and monitor Job Cost processes and documentation

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
  • Experience with an integrated construction accounting and project management software preferred.
  • Have basic knowledge with basic accounting principles (i.e. journal entries, debits, credits, etc.) and accounting functions. Job cost and construction experience will be a plus for this position.
  • Ability to accurately work under pressure in meeting deadlines.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills.
  • Must have excellent communication and written skills.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Must be proficient with Excel, Word and Outlook applications.

EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience of Cost Accounting in the Construction Industry.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a management role.
  • Experience in cost analysis is required.

Hourly rate: $40-45 Hourly

Relocation assistance will be provided to candidates outside of the local area on a case-by-case basis.
