Job Summary

Under the direction of the radiologic technologist, the student technologist should be organized and detail oriented. They should be able to multitask and prioritize using good time management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are also preferred. Additionally, student technologist should be able to work well independently but also as part of a team. A student technologist is responsible for performing a variety of technical procedures with minimal supervision. They should care for patients by transporting them to procedures, answering questions, preparing and performing imaging procedures. The student technologist also communicates with other members of the health care team to coordinate patient care.

Job Duties/Responsibilities



  • Utilize AIDET and complete 2 patient identifiers
  • Positions patient and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomical area of interest while ensuring and respecting the patient's physical abilities and comfort level.
  • Properly tracks procedures utilizing Radiology information system (EPIC) and audit images on the PACs system (Sectra).
  • Obtains and documents appropriate history from patient or representative and consults with the radiologist when necessary. Reviews procedure versus clinical history and documents information.
  • Maintain the privacy and treat all patients and other customers with courtesy, dignity, and respect.
  • Operate and train on all digital and computerized equipment, report any equipment malfunctions.
  • Applies principles of ALARA safety and utilize collimation to minimize radiation exposure to patients, self, and others.
  • Prioritize STAT, routine and trauma exams by responding appropriately to requested calls.
  • Follow departmental radiation protection protocols and wear radiation badges at all times.
  • Transport patients and prepares for radiographic imaging; providing the necessary instructions to obtain the radiographs, gain cooperation and reduce patient's anxiety.
  • Complete additional task related to patient care in the X-ray department.


Job Qualifications



  • Enrolled in an Accredited Radiologic Technologist Program
  • Active CPR/BLS certification
  • 1 year of clinical completion
