Position Summary:

Airbus U.S. Space & Defense, Inc. (Airbus U.S.) is looking for an experienced "Business Performance Excellence" Aerospace Professional to guide business integration for its Space line of business

The successful candidate will collaborate with the Sr. Director of Product and Business Integration and key technical leaders to establish and implement a "right-sized" approach to transitioning from a commercial-focused product line to a scalable and standardized product line to support government contracts and processes.

As part of the Business Integration role, the Business Process Integrations Director will collaborate with business leaders to define the U.S. Space line of business priorities and tier 1 metrics to be aligned with business integration approaches, drive business KPIs, critical strategic, new business, and execution insights and process improvements. Subsequently, the manager will lead the successful utilization of business metrics and KPIs leveraging existing capabilities within IT and Operations.

Reporting to the Sr Director of Product and Business Integration, the candidate selected will work collaboratively with business development, program management office, FAL execution and other key team members across the company in support of streamlined, efficient and successful program execution. This position could require up to 30% domestic and/or international travel per year, and is eligible for relocation assistance if moving to the Florida FAL located in Merritt Island, FL.


Position Responsibilities:



  • Leadership and guidance in working with the supporting organization and PMO in implementing tools and process to improve business flow
  • Develop and implement solutions (while collaborating within and outside the line of business), to ensure successful and efficient integration of new and improved Business processes in support of a standardized and profitable Space product line,
  • Manage link between Programs, Operations, Security, Information Technology, Information Assurance, Security, Supply Chain Management, Engineering and others within the FAL
  • Works closely with Operations Manager to ensure manufacturing schedule aligns with business demands
  • Establish a CONOPs and a culture for utilizing information in a closed-loop manner to support timely business development, program execution, and FAL execution insights and decisions.
  • Define, influence, and communicate the business needs and requirements in support of the Space Program Execution.
  • Influence a culture of ownership, delivery mindsets and continual improvement thru WWW/EBI mindsets.
  • Inform executive leadership and management about all initiatives, risks, opportunities, and evolutions relevant to the Space line of business integration activities.


LOB Communications Reporting & Metrics



  • Establish, with business leaders and support organizations, Top-Down Metrics for Space Products & Processes, including meaningful KPIs, reporting mechanisms, etc.
  • Provide recommendations and requirements for Improved/enhanced reporting in support of above.
  • Improve and facilitate a recurring reporting and COMMS approach to EVM, EAC, What's going well, etc.
  • Define proper master data management rules and implementation for applicable line of business data.


Business Process & PI Implementation



  • Utilize tiered metrics & KPIs to influence & prioritize continuous improvement activities.
  • Coordinate integration of "standardization" projects into New Business & Program Execution
  • Support the execution and evolution of the Product Line Roadmap
  • Collects and Coordinates LOB Requirements to Functional Departments
  • Ensure Business Process Implementation is established and integrated into core business processes.
  • Collaborates with IT professionals on infrastructure, application, and data implementations to ensure on-going support of efficient and effective data utilization.
  • Ensure New Business & Program Execution alignment with Lifecycle management in support of:

    • Reporting, Metrics, KPIs; New Business Cost Models; Lessons Learned Communication; etc.


  • Manage data flow, documents, processes, etc.



Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:

Education:



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or STEM-related field, Data Science, Computer Science preferred.


Experience:



  • A minimum of fifteen (15) years in Aerospace Engineering with progressive responsibility in roles
  • A minimum of five years in data science execution to enable business level decisions
  • Strong leadership in developing and guiding a team to execution within technical teams.
  • Experience briefing executive leadership.
  • Experience with execution in program life cycle (new business through delivery) and supporting organizations.
  • Experience with IT applications, workflow, and processes as it pertains to data collection, utilization, and reporting and digital transformations within and across many platforms and environments.
  • Understanding of data governance guidance with the USG
  • Excellent collaboration, communication (both verbal and written), and facilitation skills across a broad range of roles.
  • Ability to balance strategic road map with tactical objectives and priorities.
  • Experience with PowerBI or similar data analytics & reporting tools
  • Experienced critical thinker.
  • Experience in knowledge management, configuration management, data life cycle management.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to see how all parts of the organization processes, applications, and data work together to optimize all areas of the data life cycle.
  • Ability to work multiple tasks at the same time and possess a strong sense of personal accountability regarding decision making.
  • Ability to predict challenges and seek to proactively head-off obstacles.


Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:



  • Demonstrated skills in gathering data from multiple, often disparate, sources and synthesizing it into meaningful reports and presentations.
  • Demonstrated experience working with IT digital transformation/improvement projects.
  • Proven record of using information and analytics to enable risk based technical decisions.
  • Demonstrated skills building and maintaining relationships.
  • Demonstrated skills inspiring and influencing through Change Management and process improvements.
  • A detailed understanding of the space industry is desired.
  • Ability to work to meet deadlines (nights, weekends, and holidays at times) across multiple time zones.
  • Ability to work well both in a team and independently.
  • Ability to work with a diverse, geographically distributed team.
  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information.
  • Experience with data management framework, DAMA-DMBOK, or similar.


Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):



  • Excellent listening, comprehension & interpersonal skills for daily communication via email and phone calls required.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, communication (verbal/writing), and presentation skills.
  • Foreign language skills are desirable. Specifically, French or German.


Technical Systems Proficiency:



  • Excellent PC skills, specifically Office 365, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint
  • Search engine, web analytics, and business research tools acumen
  • Use of PowerBI


Travel Required:



  • Periodic travel (up to 30%) to Airbus U.S. facilities or partner companies.
  • Occasional international travel to collaborate with European Airbus counterparts


Eligibility:



  • US Citizenship is required


Clearance:



  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Government security clearance
  • Active DoD security clearance at Secret or above highly desirable


Physical Requirements:



  • Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents.
  • Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds including safety warnings or alarms.
  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment.
  • Carrying: able to carry documents, electronic equipment and/or supplies up to 40lbs/9kg.
  • Lifting: able to lift documents, electronic equipment and/or supplies up to 40lbs/9kg.
  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer.
  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.
