Transmissions/Reducers - Efficiency & Oil Budgeting Specialist

The Efficiency & Oil Distribution Specialist for Transmission, Driveline & Gear Reducer is responsible for all facets of Efficiency and Oil Budgeting for the Transmissions, Drivelines and Reducers at the System Level. They will work closely with other Propulsion System groups which interacting with these systems, including - but not limited to -Product Release Center, Controls, Calibration, Thermal Management & E-Motor engineering organizations. The Specialist is responsible for development and maintenance of core documentation related to system efficiency, oil distribution, oil level, service intervals, etc. They will participate in the development of application test planning and will lead the validation activity for this portion of the system DVPs. The Specialist will participate in day-to-day problem-solving activities and feedback lessons learned to the core documents as a continuous improvement methodology.

Responsibilities



  • Single point technical contact for operational efficiency of Transmission, Driveline & Reducer systems


  • Single point technical contact for oil budgeting of Automatic Transmissions and Gear Reducers


  • Support application System DFMEA & DVP development for efficiency & oil budgeting


  • Support day-to-day test execution and DRBTR teardown reviews


  • Test procedure document author for system efficiency and oil budget


  • Coordinate the use of relevant internal test resources to optimize uptime and minimize use of external test facilities


  • Coordinate execution, when necessary, using external test resources


  • Support warranty problem-solving activities through test plan development


  • Support cost reduction and resourcing activities through test plan development


  • Develop/refine simulation methodologies to better predict system efficiency


  • Lead the development of application lubrication models for early use in new program development


  • Document efficiency test results using approved format for use in virtual analysis

Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Aero, Electrical or equivalent Engineering Degree


  • Minimum of 8+ yrs experience in transmission and/or driveline design, development, calibration and testing


  • Thorough knowledge of subsystem and gear efficiency, and demonstrated experience in the application of this knowledge as it pertains to Transmission, driveline and/or EDMs


  • Must have excellent communication and presentation skills as well as experience with basic PC software (e.g. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project)


  • Candidate must be highly motivated, self-directed, have the ability to manage multiple complex projects



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's degree in Engineering


  • Specific experience with software, calibration, diagnostics, efficiency NVH and/or thermal management


  • Experience with transmission & driveline testing procedures, in vehicle or on dynamometer, and other related considerations are also highly valued
