The Opportunity

The Accounting Supervisor/Team Lead for the TC Energy USPL Pipelines Accounting and Financial Reporting team will have the opportunity to work on a variety of general accounting and financial reporting duties associated with regulated midstream natural gas pipelines in a highly focused team environment. While primarily providing accounting support to regulatory accounting, they will have the opportunity to collaborate with talented people and make a valuable contribution to the organization. This position within U.S. Pipelines Accounting will report to the Accounting Manager.

What You'll do

  • Reviews/performs routine accounting responsibilities for TC Energy's midstream regulated assets, overseeing and working with a staff and senior accountants in performing:
  • Oversight of quarterly and annual FERC preparation including quarterly filings, Annual Form No. 2 and 2a preparation, request and maintain schedules across business units, collaboration across the organization, other regulatory reports and filings as needed
  • Coordinates with other teams to prepare regulatory filings as required by rate case needs
  • Participates in the TC Energy budgeting forecast process by providing key data to the US Planning and Cost Accounting group as needed.
  • Prepares and/or Reviews monthly recurring journal and adjusting FERC ledger entries as needed
  • Reviews/Oversees monthly reconciliations and ensures items identified in the reconciliation are resolved/corrected in a timely manner
  • Provides/Reviews supporting schedules of key financial information to the Income and Property Tax Group used in the required federal and state filings
  • Coordinates timely preparation of key requests of auditors with the other groups such as property accounting, commercial, etc.
  • Helps in the development and training of staff level accountants
  • Identifies and executing process improvements
  • Participates in various job duties/responsibilities and special projects as directed by the leader or determined on own initiative such as perform accounting back up duties if anyone is out of office, etc.
  • Other tasks as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or other related field
  • Minimum of 6 years of accounting experience
  • CPA License a plus
  • FERC reporting experience a plus

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrates extensive knowledge of accounting rules, regulations, and policies, specifically FERC regulations
  • Demonstrates the ability to multi-task and make decisions and recommendations within established accounting procedures
  • Self-motivated with a strong analytical skill set willing to learn and tackle new challenges on an ongoing basis
  • Has the ability to exercises independent judgment in selecting and interpreting information as well as handle deviations from standard methods
  • Is a team player that collaborates as well as communicates well with others to achieve results
  • Demonstrates ability to develop and train staff level accountants
  • Uses appropriate planning and project management skills
  • Possess clear communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proficient use of Excel and Word
  • Knowledge of SAP accounting software (S4 Hana), PowerPlan fixed asset software and Workiva a plus
