The Opportunity:

Business Services is seeking a qualified Moving Specialist to oversee the successful execution of campus-wide moving projects. This role involves coordinating with vendors, contractors, and internal departments to plan and schedule moves, track costs, and ensure all tasks are completed on time and within budget. The ideal candidate will have strong project management, organizational, and communication skills to ensure smooth transitions for all parties involved in moving projects. The Moving Specialist will collaborate closely with various departments, including Real Estate, UCFIT, Facilities Operations, and Planning Design and Construction.

Responsibilities:


  • Develop and implement relocation plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation. Collaborate with IT, Facilities, Real Estate, and Planning/Design teams for seamless office moves and space planning.

  • Create and distribute communication plans to keep stakeholders informed during the relocation process.

  • Coordinate packing, labeling, and transportation of office equipment, furniture, and supplies, ensuring care in handling heavy items during internal moves.

  • Conduct post-move inspections and resolve any issues with departments and vendors. Manage address updates, mail forwarding, and directory changes.

  • Work with Surplus Property to identify and manage valuable assets, arrange pickups, and coordinate storage with campus facilities.

  • Obtain OSHA Forklift Certification within 90 days and maintain a valid driver's license.

  • Research and recommend services that meet campus needs, maximize revenue, and improve logistics.

  • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and the selection process for moving and packing services.

  • Oversee recruitment, training, and supervision of Campus Moving Services staff, ensuring high levels of customer service and performance.

  • Safely lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs.


Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2+ years of relevant experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:


  • 3+ years of experience in managing large-scale relocation or moving projects, preferably in a higher education, corporate, or similar environment.

  • Knowledgeable of logistics, space planning, office relocations, and proficiency in logistics software and inventory management tools to effectively manage and optimize relocation projects.

  • 2+ years of experience in team leadership and personnel management, including recruitment, onboarding, and training.

  • Experience conducting market analysis and cost estimation to ensure fair pricing for moves, supplies, labor, and related services.

  • Experience in coordinating with multiple departments and external vendors, ensuring seamless communication, collaboration, and effective project management.

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong background in customer service management, with the ability to set and maintain high standards for service delivery and address customer service issues effectively.

  • Familiarity with surplus property management and disposal/recycling processes.


Health Assessment Required:

UCF policy requires completion and passing of a physical exam for this position.

Special Instructions to the Applicants:

Applicants are required to obtain an OSHA Forklift Certification within 90 days of hire. The department will cover the cost of this certification to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $20.29 to $27.14. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.

Position requires a valid Class E driver's license. The position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
