Lead Engineer

The Member Portal/Digital API Development team is focused on building solutions to support Medica's Provide Service business domains around our Digital Experience. As a Lead Engineer you will be responsible for leading the work to develop and support solutions to advance these business domains utilizing mobile, web, cloud, and API technologies. You will leverage your development knowledge and experience to guide internal and external developers to solve complex business problems. The Lead Engineer may work independently or with a group of developers and with other subject matter experts to help design and build solutions for web-based and mobile-based portal applications.

Responsibilities

• Define, analyze, and review business, system requirements, technical requirements and prioritize tasks. Provides work direction to other staff and performs more advanced responsibilities with minimal supervision.

• Write clean, testable code using Java programming languages, Mulesoft APIs and open-source technologies like Angular and React
• Work with Azure Dev Ops, GIT and Pipelines
• Document development and operational procedures including implementing monitoring solutions

• Leverage industry standards and best practices for software development, including automated integration, test driven development, reusable code, object-oriented design, software configuration management
• Facilitate code reviews, unit testing, peer reviews and partner with QA to document test criteria

Required Qualifications:

• Advanced working knowledge and skill of professional field with ability to function as a subject matter expert for other staff across multiple technologies
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in related field, plus 7 years of work experience beyond degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Work experience with content management and search solutions
• Work experience on open source technologies like Angular, React, NodeJS
• Work experience as a .NET Developer and/or Java
• Familiarity with agile environments
• Troubleshooting abilities and strong communication skills
• In-depth knowledge writing complex SQL queries for relational and no-SQL databases
• Proficiency in building web-based and/or mobile applications including Flutter
• API development experience using Mulesoft or Java
• Experience in one of the Cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) with end to end application building, source controlling and deployment

This position is a Hub role, which requires an employee to occasionally come onsite to the designated office - Twin Cities, MN or Madison, WI - for applicable heads-up work. Frequency is determined by business need as decided by leadership.

The full salary range for this position is $98,400 - $168,600. Annual salary range placement will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, education, work experience, applicable certifications and/or licensure, the position's scope and responsibility, internal pay equity and external market salary data.
