MaineHealth Surgical Care is seeking a practicing fellowship-trained full-time surgical oncologist to join their well-established team in Portland, Maine. The surgeon will be expected to have a tract record of clinical excellence in endocrine surgery (thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, and neuroendocrine tumor) with an additional arena of clinical interest, such as cytoreductive surgery, robotics, complex GI, sarcoma, or cutaneous oncology. This surgeon will be a member of the Division of Surgical Oncology, Section of General Surgical Oncology and Endocrine Surgery. The Division includes 11 full-time surgeons, three of whom practice in this Section.

Highlights of this opportunity include:

  • Primary practice will be at the flagship hospital, Maine Medical Center, a 750-bed tertiary/quaternary referral hospital in Portland, Maine.
  • Part of a statewide oncology care program- the MaineHealth Cancer Care Network (MHCCN) is an integrated cancer care delivery network across the Southern, Coastal and Mountain regions of Maine and eastern New Hampshire. Designed to provide care as close to home as possible, the network is comprised of 11 hospital partners and provides comprehensive cancer careto more than 7,400 cancer patients annually.
  • MHCCN is the dominant cancer care provider in the state of Maine with COC, NAPBC and NAPRC accredited comprehensive cancer care programs.
  • Fully integrated surgical oncology, radiation oncology, palliative care, patient support/social worker, nutritionist service.
  • Leading edge analytics and metrics including membership of ASCO CancerLinQ. EPIC EMR system with BEACON, and ClinicalPath platforms.
  • Academic appointment at Tufts University School of Medicine.
  • Teaching and mentoring residents and medical students from the Maine Medical Center-Tufts University School of Medicine Program.

Desired Qualifications & Experience:

  • MD/DO from an accredited medical school.
  • Board Certification/Board Eligible in general surgery, having completed a residency in general surgery.
  • Completion of Society of Surgical Oncology accredited Fellowship. Board Certification/Eligibility in Complex General Surgical Oncology if fellowship training completed after 2014.
