Assistant Controller Job Summary: The Assistant Controller is responsible for overseeing key accounting functions within the organization, including Accounts Payable (AP), payroll, and treasury management. This position supports the Controller in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting policies, and the efficient management of cash flow. The Assistant Controller will play a key role in driving financial operations and supporting strategic financial goals. Key Responsibilities: Manage AP staff and ensure proper coding, approval, and reconciliation of invoices. Oversee the AP process, ensuring accurate and timely payments to vendors and suppliers. Develop and maintain effective relationships with vendors, resolving discrepancies and ensuring compliance with payment terms. Implement and enforce internal controls to prevent errors or fraudulent activities. Manage payroll team and ensure accurate payroll processing for all employees. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws, including accurate deductions and reporting. Review and resolve any payroll-related inquiries or discrepancies. Oversee cash management, ensuring sufficient liquidity for daily operations. Coordinate bank account management, including wire transfers, cash positioning, and funding decisions. Monitor cash flow and work with management to optimize working capital and investments. Prepare cash forecasts and ensure adequate liquidity for operations. Assist the Controller in preparing accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies, procedures, and external regulations. Participate in audits and provide documentation as needed. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CMA certification is required. 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. Experience working in the construction industry preferred. In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, payroll systems, and treasury management. Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel. Excellent attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with vendors, employees, and senior management. Ability to handle sensitive financial information with confidentiality and discretion.
