Position Overview

The Director of Global Cost Accounting will accurately and timely prepare/review/oversee global cost models and standard costing for all manufactured products and processed tissues. Ensure accuracy of all inventory and deferred preservation costs (tissues) on the balance sheet and cost of products and preservation services on the income statement. Prepare qualitative and quantitative analyses of trends and variances.

Responsibilities:



  • Manage and direct all global Cost Accounting personnel
  • Manage Cost Accounting department interactions with operations and overhead departments
  • Trend and analyze global data to support ongoing activities and evaluate the results of changes in manufacturing and processing, including:

    • Oversee analysis and reporting on global inventory levels, global unit costs, and gross margins
    • Oversee quarterly performance reporting for cost and gross margins, including required data for the Blue Book
    • Oversee new product development analysis and provide costing information for ROI calculations
    • Manage obsolescence tracking and mitigation coordination
    • Analyze the effect of proposed changes to manufacturing and processing and compare to the actual effect of these changes


  • Budgeting, including:

    • Oversee the cost of products and preservation services budgeting and forecasting
    • Review production department budgets and forecasts
    • Oversee budget to actual results and analysis discussing how and why results differed from expectations


  • Oversee the maintenance of the domestic models or standard costing that calculate the cost of products and processed tissues and oversee international standard costing, including:

    • Reviewing the preparation of monthly cost models
    • Reviewing standard costing analyses and updates to standard costing when needed or annually
    • Oversee updates to cost models periodically to ensure costing accuracy
    • Routinely review inputs into costing models
    • Develop and oversee improvements to costing methods and practices


  • Oversee and maintain internal controls documentation over the Cost Accounting process
  • Oversee routine Cost Accounting and inventory / deferred preservation cost functions, including:

    • Physical and cycle counts of inventory and tissues to support balance sheet accounts
    • Recording and reconciling intercompany profit eliminations between subsidiaries
    • Recording of routine monthly accruals for procurement costs, freight, etc.
    • Reviewing account reconciliations in BlackLine system




Qualifications:



  • 10+ Years Cost Accounting Experience in a Manufacturing Environment,
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Field - Preferably Accounting, Finance, or Economics
  • Strong Written and Verbal Communication Skills,
  • Intermediate or Advanced Excel skills,
  • Management Experience,
  • Experience with large accounting systems, SAP experience a plus,
  • In-depth understanding of accounting methods and modeling,
  • Strong and broad experience in accounting and finance and the ability to apply strong GAAP knowledge to business scenarios,
  • Ability to solve complex problems through solution-oriented analysis and cost-effective solutions,
  • Comfortable working with very sensitive data and able to maintain a high degree of discretion,
  • Superior attention to detail and ability to successfully manage multiple competing priorities while maintaining a view of the big picture,
  • Demonstrated bias towards process improvement,
  • Great critical thinker with a natural curiosity to analyze and improve business results and processes, and
  • A strong partner with the Operating Team
