Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 15 years of demonstrated leadership; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 13 years of demonstrated leadership..
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities for this Position
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Program Director, Space Ground Systems.
The Space Ground Systems Director is responsible for executing a portfolio of space command & control programs supporting critical warfighter missions. Of particular interest is a balanced leader focused on excellence in execution as well as portfolio growth.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
- Directs the achievement of cost, quality, and schedule objectives for assigned programs
- Responsible for the effective implementation of continuous improvement within assigned program and supports implementation throughout GDMS
- Balances programs, risks and opportunities with executable strategies to meet technical requirements and budgets
- Leads team to identify and quantify risks and opportunities; leads risk mitigation / opportunity capture activities
- Responsible for maximizing portfolio profit and cash flow
- Prepares and presents program status to leadership and external customers, including interfacing with customers on technical matters
- Responsible for developing and implementing a strategy for portfolio growth
- Develops customer relationships and develops new business within the market
- May be responsible for directing the planning, proposal preparation, negotiation, budgeting, performance measurement, and profit generation of other program managers
- Manages people who lead department or cross-functional program teams in matrix organization to achieve schedule, cost, and technical performance objectives
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Demonstrated leadership of complex programs or portfolio with significant delivery or technical risk
- Skilled in the development and implementation of program execution and growth strategies and tactics
- Ability to track work accomplished to baseline plans and identify issues, track progress, and follow through on effective corrective actions based on data analysis and trends
- Ability to lead others in team building, conflict resolution, motivation, leadership and advanced risk management
- Ability to apply advanced negotiation skills to solve internal, external and customer issues
- Skilled in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions on programs to internal and external representatives
- Extensive ability to understand and analyze program financial data
- Outstanding relationship management skills
- Outstanding risk and opportunity management skills and ability to apply them to programs
- Proven ability to win and grow business
- Extensive knowledge of government acquisition contracting practices and regulations
- Strong working knowledge of space ground segment and satellite-to-ground communications technologies including current and potential applications
PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES AND EXPERIENCE:
- 15+ years of direct Program or Technical Management experience in the DoD/IC marketplace
- Engineering degree in a discipline related to space ground segments
- Demonstrated intimate working knowledge of government acquisition process
- Proven ability in Business Development
- Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time
- Position requires either Work-on-Site or Flex-on-Site be selected in Employee Workspace Plan
Target salary range: USD $222,815.00/Yr. - USD $241,093.00/Yr. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.
