About the Position: Eagle's Wing Child Care and Education Programs is looking for our next Associate Director to join our administrative team. A successful candidate will display a passion for serving children and families through early childhood education best practices in a thriving international residential community. The ideal candidate has worked extensively in a licensed and accredited early childhood education setting. They must demonstrate strong communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. A strong sense of self and the ability to appropriately infuse humor into the workplace is essential. Specific duties for this position include managing enrollment, supervising our infant and toddler classrooms, and leading an exciting new initiative to bring more family outreach programs and opportunities to the University Apartments community. About our Center: Eagle's Wing Child Care and Education Programs (Eagle's Wing) is an early childhood education center dedicated to serving the children living in the University Apartments community, on the campus of University of Wisconsin-Madison. Eagle's Wing collaborates with university students, faculty, and staff to support outreach, research, and teaching. All Eagle's Wing programs are state licensed, hold national (NECPA) and city accreditation, and hold a 5-star rating with the Wisconsin YoungStar Child Care Rating program. The program is licensed through the state of Wisconsin to teach 107 children between the ages of six weeks through 12 years, including a contracted full-day 4K program through the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD). Eagle's Wing is known for a play-based approach, High Scope curriculum, and our multicultural, international community. Our staff is dedicated to providing high quality care and education to all families during this critical developmental time with love and respect.
About our University Apartments Department: Eagle's Wing operates as part of University Apartments, under the Director of University Apartments/Assistant Director of University Housing. The Director and Associate Directors of Eagle's Wing serve as part of the University Apartments Leadership Team, and are the primary contacts for issues regarding children's education, care, and services. The Eagle's Wing administrative team works with other departments, colleges and universities, outside agencies, professional organizations and individuals to meet the goals of Eagle's Wing mission of service to UW-Madison students, faculty, and staff.
Responsibilities:
Assists with budget and curriculum development and teaching policy for one or multiple early childhood education facilities to ensure safety and compliance and foster an environment of learning and development. Directs operations, supervises staff, and monitors licensing and accreditation compliance.
- 20% Assists with the development and implementation of early childhood curriculums, professional development, and operating policies and procedures to comply with regulations, institutional policies, and unit objectives
- 10% Implements and supervises the operations of special programming and events
- 5% Serves as a liaison and fosters communication between internal and external stakeholders to provide clear and consistent information
- 10% Monitors licensing, accreditation documentation, and other required program reports according to established rules and regulations
- 25% Supervises the day-to-day activities of early childhood education staff to ensure the safety and physical well-being of children in a specified child care facility
- 10% Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
- 5% Relays effective and pertinent communication to internal and external stakeholders from unit leadership regarding current program and site activities
- 5% Assists in developing and auditing the unit budget
- 10% Provide support to families in the University Apartments community through parenting outreach, family events, and/or enrichment class opportunities. Work collaboratively with Resident Support and programming staff to meet the needs of families.
Tasks:
- Demonstrates and role models exceptional customer service.
- Lead the placements of Eagle's Wing student teachers, interns, practicum students, observers, and volunteers.
- Manage a highly diverse childcare center that provides early-childhood, 4K, and school-age programs.
- Manages staff scheduling and enrollment of Eagle's Wing classrooms. Enrollment management includes maintaining licensing-compliant files for all children, provides tours of the center, manages waitlist and ensures all classrooms are full.
- Monitor processes, programs, and/or trainings that support licensing, accreditation, and other required program reports according to established rules and regulations.
- Promotes and fosters a multicultural, inclusive, and anti-bias approach to learning and educational environment.
- Provide after-hours, weekend, and holiday on-call coverage for University Apartments.
- Provide support and assist as needed in the implementation of plans and procedures in the event of an emergency.
- Supervises staff in infant, toddler, and preschool classrooms including observations and completing constructive evaluations.

Education:
Required Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Educational Leadership, or a related field, plus four (4) years of experience in early childhood education, 4K, Pre-K, or family/child outreach, in licensed centers or similar environments
OR
Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, plus six (6) years of experience in early childhood education, 4K, Pre-K, or family/child outreach, in licensed centers or similar environments
Qualifications:
Required: - Experience working with a diverse population - Experience teaching or working with a play-based curriculum - Qualifications to meet the minimum requirements for administrator as prescribed by the State of Wisconsin Department of Children and Families
Preferred: - Experience with supervision or other leadership/mentorship roles - Experience with Conscious Discipline and/or Pyramid Model - Experience with state licensing and/or city and national accreditation - Knowledge, interest, and experience working with infants and toddlers - Experience with family and/or community outreach efforts

Salary:
Minimum $72,384 ANNUAL (12 months) Depending on Qualifications This is a full-time appointment. The starting annual salary is $72,384 or higher based on qualifications and includes a competitive retirement and benefits package.
Additional Information:
Primary schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, schedule may vary based on administration needs - coverage of all hours of center, 7:30am-5:30pm. This position provides after-hours, weekend, and holiday on-call coverage for the community on a rotating basis with other University Apartments supervisors.
