Legal and Compliance Intern

Position Overview:

Ardent Mills is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Legal and Compliance Intern to join our in-house legal team. This position is designed for law students who are currently pursuing a Juris Doctor (JD) degree and are looking to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, fast-paced corporate legal environment. Under the guidance of the General Counsel, Senior Counsel, and other members of the legal team, the intern will contribute to a variety of legal and compliance matters that impact our business operations.

As a Legal and Compliance Intern, you will collaborate with our legal and compliance teams as well as business partners to assist in providing legal advice, conducting research, and supporting projects that align with Ardent Mills' goals. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your legal skills, deepen your understanding of corporate law and compliance, and gain valuable insights into in-house legal practice.

Key Responsibilities:

* Assist in the preparation, review, and drafting of legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and policies.

* Conduct legal research on topics such as regulatory compliance, contractual obligations, employment law, and other areas pertinent to Ardent Mills' operations.

* Support the legal team in managing litigation matters, including document review, drafting correspondence, and working with outside counsel.

* Participate in compliance initiatives by assisting with internal audits, legal risk assessments, and policy development.

* Review and update company policies to ensure alignment with evolving legal and regulatory standards.

* Assist in developing compliance training materials and resources for employees, including presentations and online tools.

* Monitor and analyze new regulatory developments and assist in implementing compliance strategies to address emerging legal risks.

* Help address labor and employment matters, such as assisting with internal investigations, policy development, and analysis of employment laws in the U.S. and Canada.

* Support preventative legal efforts by researching emerging legal trends, reviewing regulatory developments, and contributing to internal legal resources.

Qualifications:

* Currently enrolled in an accredited law school program, pursuing a Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

* Strong academic performance and interest in corporate law, compliance and risk management.

* Excellent research, analytical, and legal writing skills with a high level of attention to detail.

* Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for diverse audiences.

* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining confidentiality and integrity.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools.

COMPETITIVE COMPENSATION:

We provide market-driven base pay, based on skills, abilities, and level of experiences. Our salary ranges are broad, and individual salary will be market competitive based on a candidate's unique set of skills and level of experience. The starting range for this position is $30-$34.
