About the Role:
Vaco has partnered with a well-established manufacturing organization seeking a Plant Accounting Lead to oversee financial operations across multiple plant locations. This role is critical in managing cost accounting, financial reporting, and ERP implementation, ensuring accurate financial data that supports operational and strategic decision-making.
The Plant Accounting Lead will be responsible for leading month-end close, bank reporting, debt covenant compliance, and financial reconciliations while interfacing closely with plant managers, senior leadership, and operations teams. The ideal candidate will bring strong manufacturing accounting experience, public accounting exposure, and hands-on ERP system expertise to optimize financial processes and reporting accuracy.
This is a full-time, on-site role with limited regional travel required (approximately four times per year).
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead month-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial statement reviews.
  • Oversee cost accounting functions, including overhead rate allocations and variance analysis for plant operations.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports for senior management, ensuring accuracy in P&L statements and balance sheets.
  • Manage bank reporting and debt covenant compliance, including testing and financial statement verification.
  • Support ERP implementation and modernization efforts, particularly in workflow optimization for journal entries and purchase order approvals.
  • Collaborate closely with plant managers and the COO, ensuring accurate reporting and maintaining strong relationships with operations teams.
  • Assist in year-end audits and compliance activities.
  • Work on special projects, including financial modeling and process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 7+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, with exposure to cost accounting and financial reporting.
  • Public accounting experience required (minimum 3 years); CPA preferred.
  • Strong experience with ERP systems (experience with Infor or similar cloud-based systems is a plus).
  • Ability to manage bank reporting, debt covenants, and audit compliance.
  • Expertise in journal entries, reconciliations, month-end close, and accrual accounting.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with plant managers and senior leadership.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary: $125,000 +/- 10% (depending on experience).
