Reports to: Maintenance Manager

Shift: 1st shift

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where you will be crucial to ensuring the continuous operation and maintenance of our electrical systems.

Position Summary:
We are seeking a qualified Journeyman Electrician to maintain and repair electrical systems and equipment in our manufacturing plant. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing electrical maintenance within the facility as well as production machinery, troubleshooting electrical issues, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and contributing to continuous improvement efforts within the plant.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and machinery in a manufacturing plant.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical faults in various systems, including motors, control circuits, lighting, and power distribution.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and inspections to ensure equipment and systems function efficiently and safely.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Follow safety regulations and maintain a safe work environment at all times.
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns and perform repairs in a timely manner to minimize production downtime.
  • Assist in the installation and setup of new electrical equipment and systems.
  • Work closely with other maintenance personnel, plant operators, and production teams to ensure seamless operation.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance work and repairs performed.
  • Stay up to date with industry best practices and advancements in electrical systems and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes and plant-specific policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program required.
  • Valid Journeyman Electrician's license preferred; will assist with obtaining license if eligible.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working as an electrician, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, including power distribution, control systems, and motor control.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints.
  • Proficient in using electrical testing tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes and safety regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up and perform physical tasks that require bending, kneeling, and working in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work at heights, including ladders and scaffolding.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work in various environmental conditions.

Requirements:

Education: Requires a High School diploma or GED.

Knowledge: Requires ability to understand general arithmetic; ability to write in an understandable manner; understand verbal or written instructions; ability to read and understand instructions, lists and billing materials; use PC based applications, including Mainstar, Outlook, and Microsoft Office, knowledge normally acquired through high school or equivalent experience.

Mental: Requires normal attention with periods of high concentration intermittently to operate machinery approximately 50% of time.

Physical: Requires walking/standing approximately 70%, lifting up to 40 pounds approximately 15% of time; involves repetitive overhead work approximately 10% of time; involves repetitive stooping, forward bending and crouching approximately 5% of time.

Manual Dexterity: Requires use of hands, arms, and feet for repetitive lifting; use of hands and arms to operate all manufacturing equipment, meters, chains hoists, automatic drills, and general hand tools and to record written information.

Audible Demands: Requires ability to follow verbal instructions and to hear for safety purposes.

Visual: Requires the ability to visually observe essential functions for satisfactory job performance and safety; color and depth perception required.

Environmental: Involves exposure to plant environments with the presence of dust, fumes, noise, and fluctuating temperatures due to lack of climate control.
