Overview Construction Business Services Procurement is looking for a highly self-motivated individual dedicated to delivering outstanding customer service. The ideal candidate will lead a diverse team, oversee, and track construction material orders, and collaborate with internal and external customers to meet operational requirements. This role involves working closely with the Construction organization and Supply Chain to manage and maintain vendor supply for materials, services, and Pcard transactions. Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills are essential. Construction and Supply Chain experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Oversees the Construction departments procurement activities, including supervising personnel responsible for preparing purchase requisitions, service requests, Amazon orders, Pcard transactions, and invoice reconciliation.
- Effectively manages internal and external expectations, regularly communicating material delivery timeframes and inventory levels at contractor yards.
- Leads a diverse team of union and management employees.
- Participates in internal meetings with Supply Chain, Construction, and Engineering.
- Monitors and evaluates personnel activities to ensure performance goals and high-quality standards are met.
- Maintains and updates databases and systems supporting the Construction Business Services Procurement groups work.
- Acts as a liaison to internal and external construction groups and contactors performing excavation activities for ordered materials.
- Implements strategic initiatives for continuous improvement, adding value to the business by identifying challenges and recommending process improvements.
- Manages and documents material ordering trends to maintain supply needs.
- Manages and tracks material stored at Construction contractor yards.
- Serves as the key interface to all internal customers, including Construction, Stores Operations, and Supply Chain.
- Proactively addresses Supply Chain disruptions, such as back-ordered materials and delivery delays.
- Collaborates with Supply Chain to onboard new vendors to address material supply issues.
- Identifies procurement process and technology improvement initiatives, developing proposals for process enhancements.
- Supports all planning and forecasting activities with internal customers.
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
- Master's Degree and 2 years of relevant work experience or
- Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of relevant work experience or
- Associate's Degree and 5 years of relevant work experience or
- High School Diploma/GED and 8 years of relevant work experience
Relevant Work Experience
- Depending on education level, two to eight years relevant work experience with a minimum of two years of supervisory/managerial experience. Required
- Working knowledge in one of the following areas: Material management, Inventory management, Construction, Engineering, Procurement, Operations, Field Support. Required
- Construction, Supply Chain, Operations or Engineering Experience Preferred
- Proficient in MS Office products and Data Analytics software Preferred
- Strong working knowledge of Oracle Preferred
- The ability to drive change and lead strategic initiatives Preferred
- Ability to plan and organize workloads as well as excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Preferred
- Must be able to communicate strategies and give persuasive presentations. Must be able to interact with all levels of management. Preferred
- Ability to handle multiple assignments with changing priorities while meeting deadlines. Preferred
