Workforce Development & Education Student Assistant

Berkeley Lab's Workforce Development & Education (WD&E) Department is hiring a Student Assistant to support STEM internships and outreach events. Duties include event support (in-person and virtual), administrative tasks, event planning, spreadsheet management, photo archives, logistics, literature searches, data analysis/visualization, file management, and media preparation. What is Required:



  • Full-time undergraduate student in good academic standing.
  • Strong written communication and email etiquette.
  • Experience with social media, branding, and event coordination.
  • Proficient in Zoom and online collaboration tools.
  • Skilled in office software (Google apps, MS Word, Excel).
  • Experience with data analysis and visualization (charts, graphs, infographics).
  • Strong attention to detail and high accuracy.
  • Able to work independently and in teams.
  • Ability to multitask in a flexible environment.
  • Strong research skills to inform decision-making.



Desired Qualifications:



  • Completed coursework in STEM fields.
  • Interest/experience in science, research, and STEM education.
  • Experience with project management software (e.g., Smartsheet, MS Project, Salesforce).
  • Interest in working with post-secondary students.



Notes:



  • This is a part-time (transitioning to full-time in summer), 1 year student assistant appointment with the possibility of renewal based upon satisfactory job performance, continuing availability of funds and ongoing operational needs.
  • The hourly range for this position is $18.67 - $24.39. The final hourly rate is dependent on years of education completed. Applicants should note that they are responsible for covering their own housing and travel expenses.
  • This position may be subject to a background check.
  • This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule - a combination of teleworking and performing work on site at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, 1 Cyclotron Road, Berkeley, CA. Work schedules are dependent on business needs. This position will need to be on site at least 1 day per week in the spring and fall and up to 4 days per week during the summer. Individuals working a hybrid schedule must reside within 150 miles of Berkeley Lab.
