Job Description

Position Overview:

Responsible for specific aspects of Quality Assurance testing and lab procedures as assigned. Requires a basic understanding of the blow molding and injection processes; the ability to understand and follow basic testing practices and guidelines; the ability to recognize quality problems; and the ability to perform measurements and testing on lab equipment provided. Must have completed all training required of Quality Inspector.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Abides by all Amcor's Safety and Quality policies and procedures.
  • Assures the quality of manufactured products and processes per SOP's and GMP's.
  • Maintains standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation.
  • Maintains sampling procedures and designs and develops forms and instructions. For recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.
  • Maintains programs to evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and testing, measurement, and analytical equipment and facilities.
  • Directs workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.
  • Complies and writes training material and conducts training sessions on quality control activities.
  • Maintains and monitors manufacturing control plans for process control.
  • Implement and monitor SPC activity as required by the customer and Engineering Specification testing.
  • Monitor all product and process activities daily for corrective action and continuous improvement.
  • Maintenance of reports and implement containment and corrective actions.
  • Monitor new product launches for concerns and implement preventive actions.
  • QSE procedures application and knowledge.
  • Ensures quality policies, procedures, processes are followed.
  • Identify and record any problems relating to the product process and quality system.
  • Ability to read and write in English.
  • Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels Understands and communicates all hazards and safety issues to co-workers/Supervisors. Properly uses
  • Performs other quality-related functions as requested by the Quality Assurance Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Previous quality assurance or manufacturing work experience in the plastics industry is preferred
  • English literacy with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Quality Technician preferred
  • Basic math, computer, and organizational skills
  • Employees must be able to work overtime, weekends and nights
  • Ability to frequently carry greater than 10 pounds up to 30 pounds; occasionally lift 50 pounds overhead with assistance.
  • Ability to recognize and understand numbers and values. This includes entering information into an on-line database accurately.
  • Ability to visually and mentally make priority decisions / judgement calls based on the situation at hand.

Level of Authority & Authorization

"You have the right to hold for inspection; any product you feel does not meet customer/company specifications. "

  • Those employees with authorized training, have the ability to shut down / stop equipment if continued operation is a threat to any employee's health and safety
  • Stop production for unacceptable quality
  • Quarantine out-of-specification products, materials or supplies

  • GMP Plant Training (internal) - annual
  • HACCP Training (internal) - annual
  • Glass and Brittle Plastic and Ceramic Fragment Avoidance and Containment Program - annual
  • Food Defense - annual
  • Communicable Disease - annual
  • May be required to be forklift certified based on job duties.

Department Specific Procedure training (internal)

The above requirements and training are not limited to the above and could be one or more depending on job assignment. Requirements may include all other duties as assigned by management.
