POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

Alutiiq Solutions, LLC is seeking a skilled Web Editor to support the National Guard Bureau Office of Public Affairs in Arlington, Virginia. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong news judgment, the ability to edit highly technical stories to ensure they are accessible to a general public audience, and the capacity to write compelling stories under tight deadlines.

* Curate, edit and publish daily print stories and still images on the National Guard's public website.

* Curate and publish completed video products as supplementary materials to print stories and other sections of the National Guard website.

* Select special topic microsite content as needed for microsite creation by the digital team to highlight breaking news or high-priority topics.

* Apply sound news judgment and senior leader priorities to prioritize and highlight key content for digital platforms, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and engagement.

* Transform complex, technical material into content that is understandable and engaging for a general audience.

* Write and update news stories under tight deadlines while maintaining quality standards.

* Collaborate with internal and external content producers to maintain consistency in organizational voice, tone and quality across digital platforms.

* Distribute emails to key audiences spotlighting stories published.

* Ensure adherence to internal NGB, DOD and Associated Press Style guidelines and requirements for security, accuracy, propriety and policy.

Typical Pay/Range $105,000 to $115,000 Yearly

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

* Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or a related field.

* Proven experience in digital editing, preferably in a news environment, with expert level understanding of AP Style Book.

* Exceptional editing and writing skills with attention to detail.

* Strong news judgment and familiarity with current events.

* Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

* Proficiency in content management systems and digital publishing tools.

Preferred Qualifications or Skills

* Ability to perform work using Windows and Macintosh platforms.

* Expertise using MS Office, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite.

* Experience using AFPIMS and Army CORE Content Management Systems a bonus.

* In depth knowledge and understanding of crafting social media posts to highlight news stories, photos and videos.

* Knowledge of Section 508 and accessibility issues
