Job Title: Engineer II, Controls

FLSA Status: Exempt

Department: Engineering

Reports to: Engineering Manager, Controls

Flex Work Eligible! This position qualifies for the Flexible Work Policy. Employees receive 75 work days annually to work remote! The initial amount of days is prorated for the first year based on start date.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:

The Engineer II, Controls is responsible for developing and maintaining control system designs under the direction of a senior engineer or manager. They lead the development of subsystems in larger design efforts or the complete electrical system development in smaller projects. They provide technical direction to junior engineers, designers, and drafters. Provides engineering support to internal and external customers and performs other tasks as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Functional & Technical Skills



  • Translate requirements into a system architecture and detailed design.
  • Design, integrate and install industrial automation and control systems including PLC controls, motor controls, and general machine controls.
  • Determine feasibility of modifying existing or designing new equipment considering costs, time limitations, and other technical and economic factors.
  • Validate designs through analysis and testing.


Leadership and Talent Development



  • Coordinate own design efforts as well as other engineers and designers to meet production schedules and provide project task estimates and updates to project team.
  • Lead design review consisting of multi-disciplined and cross functional team members.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: BS in Electrical Engineering

Experience: 3+ years' experience in developing and maintaining control system designs.

Licenses/Certifications: Obtain and maintain railroad safety training and credentials

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • Working knowledge of business software including MS Office suite.
  • Ability to collaborate with others to clarify requirements and develop solutions.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: MS in Electrical Engineering

Experience: 3+ years' experience in the following:



  • Industrial power systems and automation
  • Engine, generator, electrical traction, hydrostatics & hydraulic controls
  • Allen Bradley/Rockwell Automation (RSLogix, RSView, Ethernet, ControlNEt, DeviceNet)
  • Directing individual engineers or designers


Licenses/Certifications: EIT

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • Knowledge in Autodesk and ERP software

Loram determines compensation based on factors such as skills, competencies, education, and/or experience. Certain positions may be eligible for an annual bonus and paid time off in addition to base compensation.

A reasonable estimate of the annual pay range is between $75,166.40 - $93,958.00.
