Position Summary
This position works directly with the UNC Lineberger Cancer Network in partnership with UNC Hospitals, Center for Nursing Excellence. In partnership with the UNC Health Approved Provider Unit, UNC Lineberger Cancer Network programming provides Nursing Continuing Professional Development ( NCPD) contact hours for participation in oncology related courses and lectures.

The Nurse Planner acts as the accreditation expert for programs offering Nursing Continuing Professional Development credits. This position is charged with maintaining ANCC standards for all criteria and operational aspects of providing continuing nursing professional development activities, developing educational material, maintaining accreditation records, designing evaluation procedures for activities, and providing expert evaluation of educational content.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaboratively work with programs to evaluate needs assessments and identify professional practice gaps to plan, develop, coordinate, and evaluate continuing education programs.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the planning committee to ensure ANCC/NCNA criteria are met
  • Review program materials to identify and mitigate any conflicts of interest and confirm all components meet ANCC standards.
  • Complete requisite documentation and end-of-year reporting to meet all criteria established by the ANCC for live and enduring material educational content.
  • Develop assessment questions for enduring materials courses appropriate for provision of NCPD contact hours to ensure participation and applicable knowledge transfer.
  • Analyze summative evaluation data to measure learning outcomes and provide guidance for future educational activities.
  • Attends bi-monthly nurse planner meetings, annual updates and education provided by primary nurse planner.
  • Develop assessment questions for a non-accredited, limited online seminar series (such as for community college students) on pre-established oncology topics.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina and two years of experience in the area of specialization.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Is a registered nurse with a current, unencumbered nursing license by the North Carolina Board of Nursing

Proficient with Microsoft 365 Suite (Teams, Word, and Excel)

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as an effective team member

Experience as an educator for nursing-related subject matter

*Knowledgeable about the NCPD process and adherence to ANCC criteria
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience with remote video applications (Zoom, Webex)

Certified Nurse Educator ( CNE) or Nursing Professional Development Certification

*Experience as an ANCC Nurse Planner
