Position Summary

The UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center is currently seeking Project Manager, Sr to play a crucial role in supporting projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop relationships with varying communication styles. They will collaborate closely with our faculty, research, and administrative staff to effectively manage projects and initiatives within UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center and its supported systems including CRIIS. The Cancer Research Integrated Informatics System or CRIIS is an application that will illuminate patterns and possibilities within data sets to accelerate research analysis. The selected candidate will work with leadership to identify opportunities for improvement and support operational goals to assist in the strategic mission of the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center.

In this role, the Project Manager, Sr will be responsible for oversight of program deliverables, creating schedules and timelines, providing project updates, coordinating stakeholders, and assisting in budget creation and management. They will support newly developed projects and initiatives within the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center and will interact with both internal and external staff. They offer guidance and support for new projects identifying risks and utilizing lessons learned to assist in implementation planning. The successful candidate will also support existing processes and provide project oversight or improvement suggestions. The successful candidate will have experience in data driven projects and deliverables. Develop program assessment protocol for evaluation and improvement.

In addition to these responsibilities, the successful candidate must possess exceptional time management, organizational, and excel skills. The candidate must possess interpersonal skills that can work with all levels internal to the organization and with external support vendors. The ability to discuss technical information with a non-technical audience and translate business needs into technical deliverables. Provide senior leadership support and interaction on progress or impediments. Possess an understanding of healthcare and medical practice operations, cancer research, rules and regulations including HIPAA.

Required Responsibilities:

* Manages and leads large-scale, complex, and/or multifaceted projects and initiatives of broad significance to the organization.

* Participates in the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies, objectives, short-and long-range planning; develops and implements projects and programs to assist in accomplishment of established goals.

* Administers, oversees, and coordinates the activities of a range of larger, high-impact operational and support projects, as appropriate to the objectives of the organization.

* Compiles, analyzes, interprets, and integrates information and prepares and presents complex reports, statements, and other materials.

* Gathers facts, research issues, analyzes potential solutions, compares alternatives in terms of cost, time, and availability of resources, and recommends a course of action.

* Develops and implements project plans; evaluates project status and resource utilization and implements changes to improve team effectiveness. Develops and tracks project budgets.

* Develops, coordinates, and implements changes and/or improvements to management systems and procedures for the department as assigned.

* Reviews and ensures accurate completion and timely submission of research data, University, and other reports as required, with respect to assigned areas of responsibilities.

* Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

* Confirms that stakeholders have a shared understanding of requirements. Manages conflicts and issues to resolution. Obtains needed approval of solution requirements. Ensures that stakeholders have access to business analysis work products. Uses communication methods appropriate to senior executive stakeholders. Manages requirements traceability and oversees the entire requirements management process.

* Collaborates with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyzes tradeoffs between usability and performance needs.

* Represents the university to various institutional divisions as well as prospective funding agencies and individuals, prospective vendors, and customers.

The University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center is the Official Cancer Center of New Mexico and the only National Cancer Institute-designated Cancer Center in a 500-mile radius. Its more than 136 board-certified oncology specialty physicians include cancer surgeons in every specialty (abdominal, thoracic, bone and soft tissue, neurosurgery, genitourinary, gynecology, and head and neck cancers), adult and pediatric hematologists/medical oncologists, gynecologic oncologists, and radiation oncologists. They, along with more than 600 other cancer healthcare professionals (nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists, navigators, psychologists and social workers), provide treatment to 65% of New Mexico's cancer patients from all across the state and partner with community health systems statewide to provide cancer care closer to home. They treated almost 15,000 patients in more than 100,000 ambulatory clinic visits in addition to in-patient hospitalizations at UNM Hospital. A total of nearly 1,855 patients participated in cancer clinical trials testing new cancer treatments that include tests of novel cancer prevention strategies and cancer genome sequencing. The more than 123 cancer research scientists affiliated with the UNMCCC were awarded $38.2 million in federal and private grants and contracts for cancer research projects. Since 2015, they have published nearly 1000 manuscripts, and promoting economic development, they filed 136 new patents and launched 10 new biotechnology start-up companies. Finally, the physicians, scientists and staff have provided education and training experiences to more than 500 high school, undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral fellowship students in cancer research and cancer health care delivery. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications

* Knowledge of datasets and application implementations, as well as implementing software tools to improve operational processes.

* Progressively elaborates the stated requirements to sufficient level of detail that accurately defines the data need within the specified solution scope. Validates that requirements meet the data need.
