The Opportunity:

The Maintenance department at Facilities and Business Operations is seeking a qualified Plumber II to troubleshoot, service, and respond to customer and staff requests. Using intermediate-level skills, you will be responsible for the maintenance, installation, repair, and operation of plumbing systems, ensuring compliance with national and state plumbing codes.

Responsibilities:


  • Execute preventive maintenance (PM) and predictive maintenance (PDM) tasks to identify and prevent potential failures.

  • Install, maintain, test, and calibrate plumbing components for bathrooms, laboratories, and kitchens.

  • Operate and troubleshoot pumps, faucets, valves, traps, water heaters, and sewage systems.

  • Support central shops, contractors, and other departments, and perform routine and project work.

  • Complete work orders timely, maintain accurate record-keeping, and report deficiencies.

  • Collaborate with teams, ensure compliance with safety guidelines, and participate in coaching Plumber I staff.


Minimum Qualifications:

Licensed as a plumber in the State of Florida and 2 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • 3+ years of relevant experience to include commercial and/or corporate environments.

  • Working knowledge of plumbing trades, tools, materials, and safety procedures.

  • Capable of applying critical thinking skills and working independently.

  • Leadership skills, including delegation, training, and motivation of individuals from varied backgrounds and experiences.

  • Experience reading blueprints and using electrical meters.

  • Ability to use various computer programs including and/or equivalent to Microsoft Office and the Integrated Work Management System (IWMS).

  • Flexible for urgent requirements and capable of managing inventories.

  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with customers and team members, operate and interpret the functions of the electronic equipment (iPod Touch for AiM PM checkpoints), comprehend standard safety procedures, and utilize telecommunication devices.


Health Assessment Required:

UCF policy requires completion and passing of a physical exam for this position.

Special Instructions to the Applicants:

The anticipated salary range for this position is $23.33 to $31.21. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.

This position is eligible for 5% Shift Differential Pay of the pay range minimum.

Position requires a valid Class E driver's license. The position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
