General Purpose

Perform a wide variety of duties to support logistics operations and management with decision making, providing for the most efficient movement of bulk milk from farmer-owner facilities to customer plants. This may include reporting, analyses, key performance indicator (KPI) tracking, hauler rate and performance analysis, financial activities, and customer service. Provide analytical and data management support including cost/benefit analysis and process mapping while executing daily processes and problem resolution to support the transportation group. Assist in developing and presenting innovative, cost-effective recommendations to streamline transportation. Use a variety of tools to predict and improve service and/or cost tied to daily operations. Represent the logistics department on special projects. Work independently applying prior experiences and judgment to analyze and resolve complex problems or atypical situations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities



  • Develop, enhance, and provide a variety of operational reporting to management
  • Track KPIs and provide timely updates or reports to management, highlighting areas of concern, improvement, or excellence
  • Perform analysis on operational activity, such as trends, forecasts, benchmarks, financial/cost and service etc.
  • Develop and maintain logistics policies and procedures
  • Keep proper records of all forms of transactions relating to the company's logistics operations
  • Resolve complex problems that are related to transportation and logistics systems. Provide support in the development and implementation of transportation management or information systems
  • Work with COO and transportation management to update hauler/carrier scorecard and drive overall performance. Review areas of opportunity and coordinate with appropriate internal employees to help drive efficiencies and improvement
  • Perform a variety of financial related activities, which may include:

    • Establish and maintain annual logistics budget, forecasting milk production, sales volumes and costs
    • Oversee tracking and publishing of all logistics-related costs
    • Be apprised of and if necessary assist in facilitating the accurate and timely payment to contract haulers/carriers, and coordinate processing of system changes in hauling rates, producer alignments, and customer ship-to and bill-to locations


  • Track and analyze customer demand patterns
  • Serve as a department representative and take an active role on special projects that require comprehensive logistics knowledge, research, analytics and collaboration among affected participants

Education and Experience



  • Undergraduate degree in business, logistics, supply chain, or related curriculum (or equivalent combination of experience and education)
  • 5 to 8 years of dispatching, logistics, transportation, supply chain, or related experience
  • Certification and/or License - may be required during course of employment


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Strong knowledge of the principles, practices, and economics of distribution and logistics
  • Knowledge of and skill with Microsoft Office Suite and company computer systems
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Able to interact positively and work effectively with others (interpersonal skills)
  • Able to lead a project from inception to completion and adhere to steps and timelines
  • Able to work effectively in cross-functional teams
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize work activities
  • Able to work with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English


Travel

15%-25% (1-2 times per quarter)
