Position Summary The University of New Mexico School of Medicine Department of Neurosurgery is recruiting a board certified or board eligible, Open Rank, Open Track, position that will provide half-time pediatric neurosurgery and half-time general neurosurgery care. Join the pediatric neurosurgery division's established neurosurgeons currently practicing and teaching neurosurgery residents with the University of New Mexico. The University of New Mexico is the only tertiary referral Neurosurgical center in the State of 2.3 million people. There is a significant need and opportunity to grow and expand an established practice focused on the pediatric patients of New Mexico. Overall, the department has a comprehensive practice focusing on a diverse range of neurological disorders in both pediatric and adult neurosurgery, with recent re-establishment of an ACGME approved residency in 2022. UNM is also the only Level 1 trauma center in the state and participation in the general trauma call pool will be expected. * Faculty appointment through UNM School of Medicine * Comprehensive benefits * Relocation reimbursement * Dependent tuition program Qualifications Minimum Qualifications * MD, DO, or equivalent degree * Completion of an accredited pediatric neurosurgery fellowship * Board certified or board eligible in neurosurgery and pediatric neurosurgery Preferred Qualifications * Minimum two years of academic neurosurgery practice working with residents, students or fellows * Leadership experience at service line/division chief level. * Excellence in resident education * Scholarly activity with evidence of publication, participation in clinical/ translational research, and/or independent funding. * Outstanding record of professionalism with ability to communicate effectively across multiple specialties. * A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities * Interest, fellowship training, and/or substantial experience within an another neurosurgical subspecialty Application Instructions Only applications submitted through Completed application must have research style CV and cover letter detailing how candidate is committed to working with a broadly diverse student and community population.
