Description

The Institute for Community and Rural Health is currently accepting applications for a Temporary (Hybrid) Support Specialist. The Support Specialist will provide data entry, data quality reviews, programmatic, and administrative support to staff within the West Virginia University Institute for Community and Rural Health.

What You'll Do

Data Entry and Support
* Support the implementation of evaluation and research through data collection, data entry and data quality reviews projects.
* Conduct and document literature reviews.
* Conduct outreach and reviews of publicly available data to support evaluation, research, and reporting.
* Support development and submission of IRB applications.

Programmatic Support
* Support WVU Institute for Community and Rural Health's evaluation and research agenda including working on teams to publish related rural health research.
* Support the development of promotional and written materials, such as social media content, educational materials, slide decks, reports, and presentations.
* Support implementation and participate in ICRH events.

Administrative Support
* Assist with budget development and/or budget analysis for grants or programs within the department.

Pay Grade: 16

Length of Assignment: Approximately 8.5 months

Work Hours: 15 Hours per week

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED, Bachelor's preferred
  • A minimum of 6-12 months of experience involving:

    • Research and/or training in program evaluation experience, including data entry, in an academic or applied setting


  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Experience with data entry and quality review processes.
  • Ability to collect and evaluate data for accuracy and meaning, draw valid conclusions and make recommendations for a plan of action.
  • Developing clear and concise professional correspondence including but not limited to emails, memos, brief reports, and/or presentations.
  • Collaboration skills and experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate with others to complete projects well and on time.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to use or learn to use survey software such as RedCap and Qualtrics to successfully support data collection, entry, and quality improvement projects.
  • Experience collaborating and communicating with students, clients, and funders.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Data oriented: Consistently achieves results by approaching work informed by data.
  • Manages complexity: Ability to make sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems.
  • Strategic learning: Actively learns through experimentation when tackling new problems, using both successes and failures to learn and solve problems.
  • Values differences: Recognizes the value of different perspectives in every aspect of their work.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to travel for local and state client visits, conference attendance and other job-related activities
