Total Negotiated Salary (TNS) calculations include 75th percentile 3-year Average AAMC salary benchmark for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. ranging from $285,511-$373,046. The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.

Position description

The University of California Irvine Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) is seeking a physician-scientist with a clinical translational/or basic science research expertise to join our expanding department as an Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor of Clinical Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, depending upon the candidate's qualifications. Applicants should be board-certified or board-eligible in PM&R and be eligible to apply for a California medical license by the start date.

Criteria for the Professor of Clinical "X" Series: The incumbent will be expected to conduct substantial research; provide patient care; teach fellows, residents, and medical students; and perform public and University service. The potential for excellence in teaching is an essential criterion for appointment in this series.

All ranks will be expected to have a record of substantial research; lead or have a significant intellectual and substantive contribution to a research program and/or be involved in other creative activities. Creative activity may be highly integrated into clinical activities. May include clinical-translational projects, health services/health outcomes research, case series, educational scholarship, or bench research.

The PM&R physician-scientist interested in pursuing an academic career in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation will be given the opportunity to grow in a dynamic department. Our team includes a group of innovative, forward-thinking individuals with high standards of teaching, research, and patient care. The department provides care in UCI Health clinical locations. The team provides inpatient consultation services and ambulatory care services for a diverse population in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation clinics at UCI Health and affiliated hospitals. The clinician will also be a part of the larger general rehabilitation team caring for patients with a variety of rehab diagnoses in a variety of settings.

UCI Medical Center is a 459-bed acute care hospital equipped with state-of-the-art operating rooms and is the region's only Level I trauma center and Level II pediatric trauma center. It is the primary teaching and training location for the UCI School of Medicine. For 21 consecutive years, the medical center has been rated among America's Best Hospitals by U.S. News & World. UCI Health is building a new world-class hospital, UCI Medical Center-Irvine, a full-service academic health complex that will bring a broad spectrum of the most advanced healthcare services.
