Client: Financial Services Organization Role: Senior Accountant Salary: $120,000 - $140,000/annually + bonus Location: Manhattan, New York (Hybrid - 3x week in office) About the role: We are seeking a Senior Accountant who will manage financial records for the firm. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, attention to detail, and problem solving. Additionally, the Senior Accountant will ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory standards. Experience in financial services or asset management highly preferred. CPA huge plus. Responsibilities: Manage monthly close process. Prepare and review journal entries for expense accounts, ensuring GAAP compliance. Generate and maintain work papers to support the monthly close process. Perform balance sheet roll forwards and reconciliations for expense accounts. Assist in preparing and reviewing financial statements, focusing on expense-related items. Conduct detailed account analysis to identify trends and discrepancies. Reconcile expense accounts and ensure proper allocations. Collaborate with accounts payable, procurement, and other teams for accurate expense recording. Maintain and enhance internal controls over expense accounting. Ensure compliance with SOX, company policies, and regulatory standards. Support external audits by preparing schedules and responding to inquiries. Evaluate and improve expense accounting processes. Collaborate with the Finance & Accounting team to streamline workflows. Participate in system upgrades and ensure accurate data integration. Support budget-to-actual variance analysis and management reporting. Assist in developing policies and procedures for expense accounting. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or progress toward CPA preferred). 5-7 years of accounting experience, including 2-3 years in public accounting and 2-3 years in controllership/close process operations. Experience with SEC reporting and SOX compliance. Preferred experience in the asset management industry. Strong understanding of GAAP standards. Proficiency in NetSuite, Concur, and advanced Excel skills. Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Proven track record of process improvements in finance operations. Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
