Director Middle Market and Business Banking
The Director Middle Market and Business Banking role will be responsible for the development and coordination of all Middle Market and Business Banking relationships in the Mountain West region including profitability, strategic goals and management policies. This role will be responsible for Market President duties by developing and managing a cross functional marketing strategy to grow revenue in the Mountain West region through growth of client and prospective client relationships, cross-functional marketing events and management of contributions/community activities. This role will be directly responsible for developing and maintaining a leadership role with various civic, political and charitable positions within a given metropolitan region, and will serve as the public face and spokesperson for Comerica within that marketplace. Additionally, this role is responsible for bringing new talent to the organization through successful recruiting and acquiring of external practices, leading with integrity, and developing a strong culture to optimize relationships and resources within the office.
Position Responsibilities:
Leadership/Management
- Provide vision and leadership in the development of strategic and annual business plan for the markets that is consistent with the vision for the overall market and Comerica; establish operating goals and standards consistent with strategies, policies and procedures.
- Manage a region-wide leadership team, or "Regional Council", consisting of leaders in key lines of business to focus on developing strategic plans for the markets.
- Grow primary lines of business, with secondary (dotted line) responsibility for all lines of businesses/product lines serving the metropolitan region.
- Provide strong leadership to enhance and maintain an aggressive sales and marketing culture to achieve budgeted growth in loans, deposits, and fee generating products and services.
Recruit, build and retain talent in the market
- Maintain a sound loan portfolio, control expenses at acceptable levels, achieve an optimal net interest margin, and maintain a high level of customer service while maintaining local flavor.
Business Development
- Develop and execute sales processes that build the skills of the sales teams and deliver on enhanced profitability through acquisition of new customers and customer retention.
- Drive development of bank wide product offerings in collaboration with the Treasury Management, Wealth Management and Retail leadership teams.
- Plan and forecast the financial plan and monitor the business initiatives for the markets.
Risk Management
- Manage and maintain loan portfolio credit quality. Communicate appropriate loan policies and guidelines, considering quality, pricing and types of loan.
- Through partnering with Legal and Risk Management, have a thorough understanding of all regulatory changes and ensure compliance with all respective regulatory requirements and guidelines.
- Ensure that the sales team understands the risks inherent in the business, as well as the controls are in place. Ensure that there is an appropriate balance between return the Corporation receives and the risks that are assumed.
Administration
- With support from Finance, plan and forecast the financial plan for the prescribed line of business. Monitor business initiatives and pipeline for new business.
- Maintain a positive image in the community; act as media contact and spokesperson when authorized by Corporate Communications. Act as a custodian of Comerica foundation contributions for local metropolitan region.
- Assist with disaster recovery (Continuity Plan) for the metropolitan area.
- Assist in expansion activities including access point locations, renovation investment, resource allocation, human resources and marketing.
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited University
- 10 years of experience in banking or financial Services industry
- 8 years leading or managing a team
- 10 years working with executive management
- Completion of a Commercial Credit training program
Work Best Category: Category B - 3-4 days in office on designated days/1-2 days remote
Hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday
Salary: To Be Determined Based on Individual Experience
