DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will support the forest maintenance supervisors, forest assistant managers, and/or the forest district manager in various activities related to maintenance, forest fire management, recreational programming, and overall district management. Your responsibilities will include operating equipment with a gross vehicle weight of up to 32,000 pounds, which necessitates a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL), maintaining tools and equipment, performing manual labor when not operating machinery, and occasionally leading other staff in their tasks. Additionally, you may be temporarily assigned to different divisions within the district maintenance as required..

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This is a seasonal, full-time position without benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2025 until November 2025 at which the employee is placed on leave without pay.
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Tuesday - Thursday, 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months experience in the operation and maintenance of large vans, buses and single-chassis trucks with a gross vehicle weight of 10,001 pounds or more; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license.

Conditions of Employment:

  • This position requires possession of a Class A commercial driver's license (CDL) and any endorsements required to operate specific equipment, in order to meet operational needs.
