DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will support skilled tradespeople in conducting repairs and preventative maintenance on a variety of equipment and hand tools. You will independently handle minor repairs and maintenance tasks, which include replacing hoses, wires, light bulbs, lenses, and filters, as well as performing lubrication tasks. Accurate recording of parts used and time spent on tasks is essential, and you will also be responsible for operating a noncommercial vehicle to deliver and pick up parts, mail, and other related items as required.
You will engage in routine identification of equipment issues using diagnostic tools and established testing protocols, while also assisting with more complex troubleshooting tasks. Minor repairs and maintenance will be performed on motorized hand tools, including chain saws, compressors, jackhammers, tampers, hand mowers, trimmers, routers, patching machines, and heating kettles. Additionally, you will report any missing or damaged equipment as soon as it is observed.
Under the guidance of the designated supervisor, you will carry out various routine manual labor tasks within the yard, including mowing, maintaining buildings and grounds, and performing janitorial duties at permanent facility locations within the Maintenance District. Responsibilities will also include snow shoveling, sweeping, and cleaning walkways, as well as ensuring that the immediate outdoor areas and building entrances remain tidy. You will be tasked with moving furniture and equipment, delivering supplies, and operating small heating plants or furnaces, which involves removing ashes and cleaning the boiler room.
You should possess the ability to perform minor repairs on building fixtures and equipment, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.

- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
