JOB SUMMARY: Establish plant safety strategy, implement, and maintain a culture where all associates, work practices and systems support the pursuit of zero injuries, zero health risks, and zero environmental impacts. Ensure ongoing compliance with all local, state and federal mandates, policies, regulations, and procedures related to health & safety and environmental. ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Responsible for the site safety management system.
- Conduct audits of safety practices and records of manufacturing to ensure compliance and injury prevention.
- Ensuring a systematic approach to problem solving is followed by continuous improvement.
- Performs equipment evaluations to include equipment start up, safety checkouts, and determining safety requirements.
- Support corporate / plant engineering to implement engineering controls to minimize safety and occupation health hazards.
- Plans, executes and/or assesses fire, intruder, severe weather, and spill response.
- Ensure incident investigations are completed and corrective actions implemented. Participates as an active member of the Rockline Global Safety Council.
- Manages environmental, health and safety training needs. Develop safety and environmental training matrices. EH&S Manager I
- Serves as the site level contact and coordinator to our Risk Management/Loss Prevention professionals with our insurance carrier(s).
- Develop environmental, health and safety metrics targets and action plans.
- Manages site security policies and procedures and facilitates security team activities including but not limited to access control and badge issuance, coordination with local law enforcement, and management of security surveillance systems.
- Coordinate plant safety committees and/or site safety teams.
- Monitor regulatory landscape to ensure compliance with Federal and State safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Ensure facility compliance (to include reporting and recordkeeping) with all local, state, and federal regulatory requirements. o Formally networks with other safety professionals. Maintain relationships and effectively communicate with local utilities, medical providers, insurance carriers, and local authorities.
- Prepare department budget and monitor to ensure the Safety department adheres to annual budget.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the essential accountabilities satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.)
- Bachelor's Degree and 6 years' experience in Health, Safety and Environmental or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous supervisory experience a plus.
- Required to have 10- & 30-hour OSHA Certification.
- Strong computer skills - Microsoft Products - Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Experience in safety and manufacturing software desired.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload and meet deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively work with operations to implement safety and health programs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.
