Summary:
Our Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Team is a vital group dedicated to ensuring all Pacific Seafood locations remain in compliance with federal, state, and company regulations. We consistently do our best and always strive to be better so that we can mitigate risks and create a safe working environment for all team members. As the EHS Manager in Kodiak, you will support the Facilities General Manager in the management, implementation, and continued improvement of Pacific Seafood's EHS Programs. Your role collaborates with the EHS team and location administration to develop and implement programs that promote a healthy and safe work environment for team members and to create structured systems to manage and consistently improve our EHS compliance and initiatives. Your leadership in EHS improvements, injury prevention, and claims management will drive a reduction in EHS costs and risk exposure. You are an integral team member who is a consultant for facility administration and will educate, assist, and provide guidance to integrate EHS best practices into Pacific Seafood's everyday business operations. You are adept at communication and collaboration and will work alongside the local EHS team members to ensure consistency and compliance of all necessary regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership of Environmental, Health, and Safety:
- Responsible for collaborating with cross functional teams to develop and oversee Kodiak's EHS and bunkhouse policies, programs, personnel, projects, and training to drive compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, Process Safety Management (PSM), and other relevant policies and procedures to identify, control, and avoid hazards and risks.
- Lead teams to effectively engage with Human Resources, EHS team members, and facility management to manage workers' compensation claims, accommodate team members with transitional work restrictions, and reduce excess expense.
- Work closely with workers' compensation insurance carriers and third-party administrators to ensure claims are accurate, filed and closed expeditiously, and properly managed by internal personnel.
- Research and identify cost reduction strategies for EHS-related projects and programs, and lead teams to implement.
2. Continuous Improvement:
- Evaluate the performance of the EHS and bunkhouse teams and assist with skill gap analysis, development opportunities, and succession planning strategies.
- Continually improve, evaluate, implement, and maintain EHS policies and procedures to protect team members and support quality and productivity.
- Identify, develop, and coordinate the administration of training programs in a manner that raises team member awareness and enables team members and supervisors to work safely and in compliance with external and internal policies and regulations.
- Evaluate, track, and continuously improve programs for the implementation of inspections for equipment, e.g., cranes, hoists, scissor lifts, PIT, LOTO points, etc.
- Identify opportunities to increase comprehension of training programs, as needed, and tailor the materials to the specific needs of the location to better equip team members and supervisors with the tools and knowledge they need to work safely and in compliance with external and internal policies and regulations.
3.Compliance and Recordkeeping:
- Coordinate and conduct quarterly EHS audits of Pacific Seafood facilities using EHS software.
- Manage environmental permitting and compliance at Pacific Seafood facilities to ensure all required data collection, documentation, maintenance, reporting, and training for wastewater, stormwater, and other environmental regulations are properly maintained.
- Facilitate programs, logs, and training for on-site team members to successfully fulfill current and future environmental permit regulations and requirements.
- Coordinate and facilitate inspections and audits by regulatory agencies and customers.
- Maintain all documents, logs, and permits in accordance with internal and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure mandatory EHS trainings and certifications are kept up-to-date in Kodiak.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
What you Bring to Pacific Seafood: Required:
- BS/BA degree from an accredited college or university in Environmental Health and Safety, Physical or Environmental Science, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years' experience facilitating safety and environmental duties and responsibilities.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA compliance, EPA, HAACP, BRC, and local, state, and federal environmental and occupational health and safety rules and regulations.
- Strong computer skills in MS Office, with proven ability to write routine reports and correspondences.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
- Strong project management skills, including planning, organizing, and coordinating resources to achieve project goals within budget and timeline constraints.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate and build relationships with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and contractors.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and work effectively under pressure.
Preferred:
- Prior experience working in food processing, manufacturing, or similar industry.
- CPR/First Aid Certification.
Salary Range: $80,500 to $112,500 yearly
