Who we are looking for:

ASCO's Data Team within the Information Technology Department is seeking an Enterprise Business Intelligence Intern ready to apply their knowledge and skillset to gain meaningful experience analyzing, transforming, and preparing data to generate actional insights driving better decision making.

Internship activities include:

  • Manage and drive carefully selected Business Intelligence project(s) that are intended to bring immediate business value

  • Using business objectives, the intern will define/design a Business Intelligence solution, leveraging technical skills in applications like SQL/R/Python to prepare and transform data, and develop data models and interactive dashboards to provide data/insights

  • Partner with business stakeholders and development teams within an agile environment to deliver meaningful Business Intelligence solutions and visualizations

  • Develop presentations of outcomes and accomplishments showing the value they bring

Required qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate BA/BS degree program, or graduate program, or recently graduated from a 4-year degree program. Candidates must be at least a junior or entering their junior year of college at the start of the internship.

  • Technical background relative to data analytics concepts including academic exposure to statistics; and preparing and analyzing data sets to create stories

  • Intermediate experience with programming languages such as SQL/R/Python

  • Basic experience with software such as PowerBI, Tableau, or AWS QuickSight

  • Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (365 preferred)

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage both technical and non-technical audiences and a willingness to collaborate with business partners

  • Solid diagnostic and critical thinking skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with flexibility to adapt to changing needs

  • Solid organizational and time management skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent customer service skills and professionalism

  • Willingness to enhance skills

Duration:10weeksduring thesummer - June 9, 2025, to August 15, 2025. This internship is37.5hours per week.

Compensation:Thissummerinternship position is paid at a rate of $20/hour for actual hours worked. Additionally, ASCO will provide parking or a metro subsidy.

Location:This internship is based in Alexandria, VA and will require working onsite the majority of the time with some offsite work flexibility. Candidates should reside in the D.C. metro area or be able to relocate at their own expense. If you are not able to work at ASCO Headquarters, please do not apply.
