Overview
Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a SUE Technician III to join our SUE Services team in Ohio or Indiana! Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE), is an essential method for accurately identifying, verifying, and mapping underground utilities. This process is vital in minimizing the risks and costs associated with utility conflicts during the design and construction of infrastructure projects. By gathering data from a variety of sources and employing advanced technologies, our licensed professionals provide clients with the most comprehensive and reliable information available. We adhere to the ASCE 38 Standard Guidelines for Investigating and Documenting Existing Utilities. Our SUE process integrates a range of geophysical and engineering techniques to ensure thorough utility detection and mapping.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret utility records, as-built and survey drawings and highway design plans.
- Designate existing utilities using electromagnetic and geophysical technologies.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and Discipline Leads on project needs and requirements.
- Operate and drive a vacuum excavation truck and perform test holes to expose utilities.
- Utilize appropriate maintenance of traffic.
- Call "One-Call" tickets.
- Coordinate survey work in relation with SUE.
- Supervise activities of field crew.
- Train junior crew members, as needed.
- Represent Colliers Engineering & Design in the field and communicate/coordinate with utility companies and clients.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED preferred.
- 5+ years of SUE experience using electromagnetic and geophysical designating technologies.
- Prior survey experience or the interest to learn is required.
- Valid Driver's License is required.
- Experience with vacuum excavation preferred.
- Ability to occasionally travel (50%) and work overtime.
- Ability to read, write. and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
Requires a pre-employment drug screen and ongoing participation in the employer's random drug and alcohol testing program. MVR will be checked and monitored.
