Responsibilities
Job Summary
The Senior Paralegal performs paralegal duties at the direction of General Counsel, Vice President Legal Affairs, and Associate General Counsel ("Supervising Attorneys"). Assumes a primary role in the coordination of various legal matters across the organization. Researches and analyzes law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles and legal codes. Prepares responses to interrogatories and other discovery requests. Draft, reviews, edits and tracks various legal contracts with complete understanding of technical legal terminology. Assists with due diligence, business acquisitions, joint ventures, lease agreements, entity maintenance and special projects. Maintains and organizes corporate records, maintains docket for reports and renewals. Fosters trust and communication between the legal department and various departments throughout the organization. A specialist on complex technical and business matters. Responsible for training and supervising administrative staff supporting the legal and risk management departments.
- Independently compiles, reviews and organizes evidence for litigation purposes. Coordinates subpoena responses, document production and discovery requests. Prepares witnesses and handles scheduling in coordination with outside counsel. Receives service of legal process from the statutory agent for all corporate entities. Responsible for timely notification to Supervising Attorneys or other involved parties.
- Drafts, reviews, revises, negotiates and disseminates a wide range legal documents, agreements, correspondence and memorandums.
- Assists Supervising Attorneys with due diligence, business acquisitions, joint ventures, legal agreements and special projects. In coordination with Supervising Attorneys, conducts legal research provides advice to leadership and management teams on a variety of legal topics.
- Works to streamline the contract processes and educate individuals on guidelines, rules and procedures. Attends meetings with various departments throughout the organization, maintains open communication and provides appropriate consultation exercising sound judgment.
- Trains and supervises staff supporting the legal and risk departments. Maintains excellent working relationship with both internal and external partners. Works collaboratively in a dynamic legal environment.
- Develops and maintains cost center budgets for certain areas reporting to the Office of General Counsel. Monitors and reports any variances against the budget to General Counsel.
