Exsera BioLabs is seeking a motivated and skilled Research and Development (R&D) Technologist to assist the R&D Manager in the development, optimization, and validation of assays in complement and autoimmune diagnostics in conjunction with the medical directors. This position will involve working hands-on in the laboratory to support assay development, optimization, and data analysis across both diagnostic areas. The R&D Technologist will play a key role in assisting with the coordination of assay development activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and supporting the transition of assays from R&D into clinical use. This role provides an excellent opportunity for those looking to grow their skills in a dynamic laboratory setting. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the R&D Manager in the development, validation, and optimization of immunoassays for complement and autoimmune disease diagnostics.
- Perform hands-on lab work, including assay setup, sample processing, data collection, and performance analysis.
- Assist with mastering new instruments and assays, working closely with vendors for training and ensuring proper usage.
- Help direct the development of assays to ensure high performance, accuracy, reproducibility, and clinical relevance.
- Prepare and present findings to the R&D Manager, Medical Directors, and senior team members through detailed technical reports and presentations. Ensure accurate reporting of assay performance, including supporting statistical analysis for regulatory filings and clinical validation. Assist with preparing research findings for presentations at scientific meetings, conferences, and internal meetings.
- Help in the writing of regulatory-required validation plans, reports, and related documentation, ensuring compliance with FDA, GLP, CLIA, CAP, and New York regulatory guidelines.
- Assist in managing the sample reserve library, ensuring compliance with CLIA and CAP standards for sample handling and storage.
- Help with chart-reviewing patient records to aid in residual sample cataloging.
- Assist in the transition of assays from R&D to clinical operations, ensuring clinical performance standards are met.
- Collaborate with clinical lab staff to troubleshoot technical issues and resolve performance challenges.
- Assist with mentoring and training new R&D team members as needed.

Qualifications:
|
Minimum Qualifications: Intermediate Level:
- Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.
- One (1) year of professional level research experience.
Senior Level:
- Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.
- Two (2) years of professional level research experience.
A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.
- Three (3) years of experience in an experimental or wet laboratory.
- Two (2) or more years of experience in clinical laboratory environment, particularly in assay development or diagnostics.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of laboratory techniques, including safety procedures and proper instrument use.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies, assays, and protocols.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret and analyze experimental data.
- Good communication skills, both written and oral, for preparing reports and sharing findings.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, vendors, and clinical lab teams.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Anticipated Pay Range:
|
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as: Intermediate Level: $48,970 - $62,290 Senior Level: $52,941 - $67,341 The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level. Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck.
