The Department of Neurology at the University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking to recruit a dynamic Assistant Professor with strong values and unique research skills for our department. This position presents an enormous opportunity to expand our research and education within the department and School of Medicine. We are seeking individuals who are collaborative, communicative, caring, detail-oriented, organized, proactive, able to think critically, focused on quality, dedicated to personal growth, and highly motivated. Job Duties
- Build an independent research portfolio through internal and external funding.
- Obtain grant funding as a Principal Investigator (PI).
- Independently and in collaboration with others, be responsible for assisting and playing a significant role with technical writing, grant, and manuscript preparations, as well as active participation in academic biomedical research.
- Develop relevant questions, formulate hypotheses, and design experiments and/or studies.
- Participate, engage with, and develop research education for graduate students, fellows, members of the community, and other learners interested in this area.
Grant writing
- Generate high-quality proposals, narratives, applications, and supporting documents in response to funding opportunities.
- Work with appropriate personnel to research, develop, write, and submit letters of intent, concept papers, and proposals.
- Independently and in collaboration, be responsible for writing grants and serving as a Principal Investigator and/or Co-Investigator on NIH and other sponsored studies.
Research
- Conduct routine and standardized research using appropriate research techniques specific to subject matter of the research project.
- Ensure that everyone to whom a task is delegated is qualified by virtue of education, training, and experience to perform each of their delegated tasks.
- Oversee that research is conducted in accordance with all federal regulatory requirements, state law, and CU and UCHealth policies.
- Ensure the accuracy, security, and integrity of your research data and the subsequent analysis of that data.
Education
- Connect with graduate students, community members, and other learners who are interested in research and study design.
- Connect interested students with faculty to provide research career exploration experiences.
- Develop curriculum as needed for research training for both internal and external learners.
- Collaborate with other research experts in the department and the University to share new study designs, statistical analyses, breakthroughs in research, and funding opportunities.
- Host workshops on how to identify new avenues of funding, writing techniques, best practices of publishing, and building on prior projects.
Other duties may be assigned as need arises.

Qualifications:
|
Minimum Qualifications Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. Assistant Professor:
- PhD in Neuroscience, Bioengineering or related field.
- Postdoctoral Fellowship in the field of Neuroscience.
- 2 years of research experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Regular publication of results and contribution to grant renewal is expected.
- Experience in developing intellectual property assets from research discoveries.
- Excellent communication skills; written and spoken.
- Be able to supervise laboratory personnel and trainees and can present complex material to both scientific and general audiences.
- Experience writing grants and serving as a Principal Investigator and/or Co-Investigator on NIH and/or sponsored studies.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work independently and within diverse team structures.
- Being respectful of patient rights and putting patient safety first.
- A positive, motivated, engaged, and caring attitude.
- Great attention to detail and quality.
- Ability to work with colleagues and patients in a confidential and professional manner.
- Follow best practices in research.
- Ability to work with colleagues across the Department of Neurology with an understanding of inclusion and diversity.

Anticipated Pay Range:
|
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE: Assistant Professor: $100,000-$110,000 The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt. Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck.
