POSITION TITLE: Level I Technician, Splicing
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
POSITION OVERVIEW:

ADB is seeking a Level I Technician, Splicing, to perform entry-level support of underground, aerial, and ISP fiber splicing on a variety of projects nationwide. This is a great position for anyone looking to get into the splicing function within the telecommunications industry. The ideal candidate will be customer and quality centric, have a complete buy-in to safety, with a strong work ethic, and ALL IN attitude to achieve results.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides entry level support to other Technicians with core splicing functions for aerial, underground, and ISP cable routing on various projects
- Performs basic prep of fiber optic cable for splicing
- Possesses general knowledge and skillsets to utilize various hand tools to complete splices including diagonal cutters, razor blades, ribbon splitters, etc.
- Ability to read and interprets construction prints and drawings to ensure customer requirements are fulfilled
- Regularly performs basic splicing equipment maintenance and OTDR/Power Meter testing
- Performs basic single and/or ribbon splices with the understanding of cable color codes
- Maintains proper inventory of equipment and consumable stock to ensure projects are completed timely
- Possesses general understanding of safety risks while working in a safety sensitive position, adhering to all safety requirements and standards
- Performs other duties as assigned by leadership

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions like sitting, squatting, standing, walking, climbing, etc.
- May be exposed to uncomfortable or distracting sounds or noise levels while onsite
- When working on site, will be required to wear common protective of safety equipment, such as safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, and steel toed boots
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
- 0-1 years of experience performing or assisting with fiber optic cable splicing projects required
- Valid driver license with the ability to obtain a DOT medical card required
- High school diploma or equivalent required
The starting pay for this position is $21/hr and may vary based on the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications.
