Job Objective:
Maintain all Piggable Pipelines in the WOA Field: Production, Water, Gas Pipelines. Working closely with Production Control, Plant and Field Operations the Pigging Operator will Run Maintenance pigs, ILI Pigs and De-Inventory pigs as required.

***This is a represented position with the USW 4959.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with Plant, Field and PCC for all pigging activity.
  • Opens and closes valves as required for pigging activities.
  • Ensure all Equipment is properly aligned and de-pressured prior to Loading/Unloading activities.
  • Supervises and Assists Pigging Techs Loading/Unloading activities: Launchers/Receivers
  • Monitors and tracks pig progression throughout entire run.
  • Maintains communication with all involved parties throughout pigging operations via mobile telephone/radio.
  • Inspects equipment for safety problems, leaks, or wear and tear, and makes or recommends appropriate repairs.
  • Updates SOP's as needed
  • Procures necessary materials and supplies to complete daily tasks
  • Retrieves and performs required tests for quality and integrity on product samples.
  • Maintains log of pigging runs within SharePoint and records all anomalies.
  • Implements company's "Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasures Plan" (SPCC), as needed.
  • Reports leaks or defective valves to supervisor.
  • Tightens connections with wrenches.
  • Inspects pipelines, valves, and flanges to detect malfunctions, such as loose connections and leaks.
  • Shuts down equipment, following supervisor's instructions, in case of an emergency.
  • Adheres to the company's values - integrity, ownership, urgency, alignment, and innovation.

  • Adheres to established work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings.

Other Job Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates operating discipline by following policy, finishing what we start and following up on defective equipment and procedural changes.
  • Participate in daily leadership and operations meetings.
  • Ensures a minimum of one HAK pigging operator always on slope (excludes contract Pigging Support).
  • Provides input to the pigging schedule and works with the facilities and well pad Leads to adjust schedule as needed.
  • When a run date is changed, Correspond with Optimization regarding changes to look for shelter opportunities to minimize rate impacts.
  • Leads daily operations meeting with team, ensuring permits and procedures are ready for the day.
  • Discuss work execution and communicate any administrative issues to the (GC3) Foreman raised by the team.
  • Ensures pigging equipment defects are identified; defect spreadsheet updated and writes work order for corrective or break down repairs. Ensures adequate resources, people & equipment, are available to safely load a pig, execute a pigging run and unload pig.
  • Identifies potential need and recommends hold over and overtime to the Foreman (GC3).
  • Lead Pigging ops participates in daily pigging operations. Ensures completed pigging procedures have been signed and submitted and filed as agreed.
  • Ensure pig for each maintenance run is configured, approved and documented by IM or seeks approval to deviate from IM analyst.
  • Communicates to EOC daily the pigging activities by participating in the daily 7 AM Slope 659 5959 Ops call or notifies prior to the meeting.
  • Maintains CMAS assessor qualification and ensures pigging operators are assessed before the due date and currency records updated as well as TQP's. East and West Leads develop standard approaches to Task Risk Assessments, work practices, temporary installations, isolations, permits, etc.
  • Ensures procedures coming due are reviewed and redlined in a timely manner. For new procedures, this includes drafting and editing Pigging Procedures.
  • Lead is the single point of contact for SMART pigging vendors when on slope.
  • Ensure temporary pigging kit is installed based upon the agree standard design.
  • Orders pigging materials and consumable items such as stud bolts, greases, cleaning agents, etc. Maintains handheld Gas and benzene monitors.
  • Ensuring the designated shop is well kept and maintains good housekeeping.
  • Ensures SharePoint data is entered at the end of each run.
  • And changes that are needed to be made are updated and reflected in SharePoint.
  • Handover is consistent with hand over policy and shared with Lead pigging alternate.
  • Completed DOT pigging procedures scanned and sent to DOT regulatory position.
  • Sign Pigging GMT's time sheets and file them in designated folder. Implements company's "Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasures Plan" (SPCC), as needed. Reports leaks or defective valves to foreman. Willingness to take direction from front line foreman. Ability to be available 24 hours per day (on call for questions, emergencies, etc.).

Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years minimum production/oilfield experience.
  • Preferred Pigging experience or exposure to Pigging Activities
  • Ability to work a fourteen (14) day on and fourteen (14) day off 12hour shift work schedule.
  • Requires less supervision in the performance of routine duties.
  • Demonstrates increasing degrees of understanding how the various parts of the oil/gas facility/plant work together (from the wells through the production facilities to the oil and gas sales lines).
  • Demonstrates an increased ability to work unsupervised, act upon an acquired knowledge of how pigging operations can adversely affect the facilities/field, anticipates and correct problems before they occur or before the facility/field are affected.
  • Demonstrates the ability to routinely operate pigging activities unsupervised.
  • Demonstrates the ability to direct the work of and train other employees/support techs of lower rank and/or experience.
  • Demonstrates the ability and willingness to remain aware of and direct the whole scope of simultaneous activities at the job site on a routine basis.
  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize when non-standard or non-routine conditions exist, notify supervisory staff, and offer recommendations for solutions to the problem.
  • Basic mathematic and mechanical skills.

  • Ability to work in arctic conditions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public.
  • Ability to consider safety in all decisions.

Education Requirements:

  • Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent or any equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating sufficient knowledge, ability and skill to handle the duties and responsibilities of the position.
