The Position:
The Information Technology Intern is responsible for supporting and advancing a variety of IT initiatives within the City's Technology team. This role offers hands-on experience in areas including cybersecurity, infrastructure, and application projects. You will collaborate with IT professionals and strategic leaders while gaining practical training that reinforces your academic studies. If eligible, you may also earn college credit for your work.

What's the Time Commitment?
Need a flexible work schedule? We've got that covered! As an IT intern, you can work up to 19 hours per week, allowing you time to focus on your studies. The internship is expected to continue through the end of the academic year, with an option to reapply and continue through summer and future semesters.

Essential Functions

Here's what you'll be entrusted to do:
- Technical Support: Communicate with City staff, support teams, and QA to resolve technical issues related to office equipment and software.
- Research & Analysis: Conduct research to support technology solutions or projects and effectively communicate findings to IT leadership.
- Product Development: Assist in designing and implementing features in both existing and new IT products.
- Training & Documentation: Develop and deliver training sessions for applications, mobile systems, or other IT implementations, and document City technology standards and processes.
- Onboarding & Inventory: Prepare equipment for new employees and help manage the purchase and tracking of equipment and software licenses.
- Field Engagement: Participate in site visits to various City properties to support solution implementations.

Job Requirements

Here's what we ask you to bring:
- Education: High school diploma required. Must have completed at least two semesters and be currently enrolled in a degree program at an accredited 4-year college or university in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, Management Information Systems, or a related technology field. A current transcript must be attached to your application.
- Licensing: Valid Texas Driver's License.
- Personal Attributes: A passion for innovation, collaborative teamwork, and a commitment to delivering excellent service.
Special Requirements:
- Must successfully pass all pre-employment screenings, including CJIS and fingerprint checks, and comply with state and federal Criminal Justice Information Security (CJIS) standards.

- Math: Intermediate skills in practical applications of mathematics, including fractions, percentages, and ratios.
